I just got a Tivo HD that I've had for about a month with software version 9.1-01-2-652. It often locks up or the sound is out of sych with the picture, does this sound like a harddrive problem or the version 9 software many are having trouble with?
Lockups sound like a hardware problem. The 9.1 release clearly has a number of bugs which Tivo should address an update very soon, but I don't think lockups / crashes is among them.
Darn I was hoping it was a software problem as I only had the HD 6 weeks. I assume it's under warranty so if I send it in how long does it usually take to fix it and get it back?
If I don't want the hassle of sending it in and decide to replace the harddrive myself, is Weeknees the cheapest place to buy an already formatted drive (so I can just drop in)?
If by lockup you mean that the TiVo is unresponsive to remote commands, there have been several reports of that since 9.1. I wouldn't be too quick about replacing the HD just yet.
