I guess they want to prevent any lip-reading of bad words as well as any hearing of them.

So, who did they do it to?

Ray Romano for saying (I assume) something about Frasier "stealing" his wife.

Sally Field who said that if mothers were running the world, children wouldn't be dying in wars (I think she used the "G-damned" word).

I know there was a third...was it when Katherine Heigl won and clearly said the "S" word? If so, that was a little too late.


It was really strange every time it happened, especially with Romano, since I assume it was a scripted speech.

OT: congrats on the 1K post.

Instead of having the same host/comedian all night. They have sad choice of a host and have real comedians do bits and not even present.

So just to be absolutely clear, they did the same censoring on the East Coast?

The Ray Romano one was the longest cut I noticed.. I couldn't tell what they cut.. (I did see someone else's guess above.)

I watched the East Coast feed from Detroit, so I assume it was censored from the source.

James Spader is a juggernaut! He is in my opinion the best actor on television. I'm thrilled that he won....but....again? Really? Even HE was clearly stunned and almost embarrassed that he won over James Gandolfini.

Ok...big question: WHO WON for Best actor in a comedy series? They said Ricky Gervais, but then mentioned Steve Carell and he ran down on stage.. Yahoo is listing Steve Carell won. BUT didn't Ricky Gervais actually win? So confused!

Hall wasn't even nominated, so Spader had already beaten him by just being there.

Yes, Gervais won, but Carell's group hug with Colbert and Stewart was one of the best parts of the show.

I disagreed with many of the winners but the introduction of the comedy writers from the late night and spoof news shows made it all worth watching.

For those who missed it, they had the Conan O'Brien writers dressed like Mexican farm workers and boarding a pick-up truck driven by Conan.

The Bill Maher writers were seen from the knees down under closed toilet stall doors in various positions.

Also, I like James Spader, but I like Hugh Laurie more.

Actually, since about two weeks ago.

Glad America Ferrera won, but really don't see Ugly Betty as a Comedy.

They should split that category, Sitcoms and Drama- edys.

I see Boston Legal being much more of a Comedy nowadays than a Drama.

Ricky Gervais didn't show up because he didn't think he would win.

Awarding James Spader the Best Actor in a Comedy was a total joke. But hey, the Emmys have been dead to me for years, after they failed to award Lauren Graham for Gilmore Girls.

All I know is what I read in the paper this morning. I didn't actually watch it.

The paper did have some red-carpet photos. Kate Walsh: sizzling. Hayden "Planetarium": Just turned 18 and already hiding a pregnancy?! Bad girl!

I loved it when Doogie Houser lookled down for around 5 seconds the top of the cheerleader from Heroes.

That and the aforementioned comedy writers spoof where there were in the bathroom stalls.

What category did they contrive that allowed them to give an Emmy to Al Gore's low-rated television network? They talked like the award was an internet thing, but his show is OTA or cable, no? I don't even know where to go find it.

For the few times he was actually on screen, Ryan was everything I thought he was going to be. He was relaxed on camera, a natural host, affable, and dreadfully unfunny. He's not a comedian and he was probably working with some awful material, so that's not terribly surprising. I think they probably should have had him on screen far more than they did, but not doing scripted comedic material... just have him do the introduction of the next presenter. If there's something funny that happened, let him do an ad-libbed joke on occasion, but that's it. Leave the comedy to the comedians.

I liked Lewis Black's rant - I agree with every single thing he had to say. Too bad it will fall on deaf ears.
