I want to feed a local television 2-3 feet away from my DVR, as well as a remote TV in my bedroom about 15 feet away...

Has anyone successfully done this? Do I need an amplified solution (which is quite expensive), or can I run a passive splitter (which runs under 20 bucks)?

A passive non powered (i.e. cheap) one probably won't work for that distance. I've read that anything over 6' needs a powered unit. YMMV.
Thanks... I am thinking about running component instead, but want to avoid running 5 wires underneath the house (3 video; 2 audio)... I'd rather run one HDMI cable across...plus, I saw a fantastic looking HDMI faceplate for just such a solution...

Plus, I have 2 devices I want to distribute...so that would make 10 wires!

It's less about not being able to support 1080p on component, and much more a volume of wires issue for me...
