Anyone opt out of the advertising sharing of information?

I was chatting with the Tivo customer service guy. Apparently you can opt out of sharing of viewing information and such with 3rd parties. Anyone do this? The guy said it may affect the ability to watch netflix though.

Anyone have any more information about this?

I always opt in for this stuff.
How do you go about that? I always opt out of such marketing ploys when registering products, etc., but I don't recall ever seeing such a privacy option with my TiVo. I'd be all for it, though!
It is a hidden option. You have to call or chat with a customer service representative.

And you never really know if it makes any difference. *AND* if you do opt out, then certain features will not work (although I can't recall what they are- I believe it was the swivel search or something like that).
I may be a naive optimist, but I opt in for this sort of stuff (you have to opt in if you want to participate in certain TiVo activities...;)).
I don't care what 3rd parties find out about my viewing habits... if it helps TiVo, then I'm all for it.
Just yesterday I answered a fairly interesting TiVo Advisor's poll.

ETA:
Just in case anyone's confused, "opting out" does NOT mean opting out of getting ads on the Tivo. ;)

I have answered a number of those polls and I find them rather annoying. They seem to be far more interested in me, personally, than they are in my experiences with the Premiere, TiVo, hardware or software issues, future directions of their products, etc. I am not "Advising" them about anything. Just making myself a better target for ads, spam, marketing, etc. I am sure most of you have "Advised" them probably feel the same.
