any way to retrieve amazon unbox movies once they're deleted?

so i rented "we are marshall" a few days ago. went to watch it last night, and it was gone from my "now playing". i guess it got bumped by other stuff i was recording, b/c i hadn't started watching it yet. is there any contingency against this? i.e. can i redownload it at no cost, or am i just screwed?

regardless, lesson learned...always change the settings to 'save until i delete' w/ unbox movies.

Since it's not noted explicitly, I will ask this, did you confirm that it actually downloaded to your tivo? Sometimes it won't due to space issues at the time of download. If it didn't in the first place, you should still be able to download the program from unbox online.

Otherwise, you've got a good question, and I would interested in the same answer.

Otherwise, It's my strong opinion that Rented or Purchased content should automatically be set until I delete. I wouldn't apply this to all content like the tivocast stuff, but certainly to unbox stuff.
If all else fails .. send Amazon an "i'm a helpless user with all this new technology" e-mail ... they are often good at giving you a 2nd chance "just this one time"..

Good luck.
Unfortunately you can't set Unbox rentals to KUID. Unbox purchases I believe are automatically KUID.

For rentals, you've got, IIRC, 30 days to start watching. Once you start watching, you've got 24 hours to finish before it's automatically deleted.

Understood, but there stood be a KUTRO (Keep Until Time Runs Out) option.

keep until time runs out is an option for rentals. however, it's not the default option, nor does there appear to be a way to make is such. you have to set it manually. i've since made sure i do this w/ every amazon unbox i get, but it really sucks if you don't know, or if you forget, that you basically waste $3.99.

i'm going to shoot an email to amazon and see if i can redownload the movie (as well as another one i lost a while back). if nothing else, it'll alert amazon and tivo to the issue, and hopefully they'll update the feature accordingly.
this happened to me, and I called Amazon to complain about my movie being deleted when I hadn't even had a chance to go home to set it as "keep until.." The guy basically said that it's TiVo's problem. I asked if I can re-download, and at first he said no. After more complaining, he gave in and sent it back to my TiVo, but said that it would be the last time that Unbox allows me to redownload.

Seems to me that there's is a problem with both TiVo and Amazon sides of this equation. TiVo should set the default of an Unbox download (rental or purchased) to be automatically kept. Amazon should allow rentals to be redownloaded until the 30 days expires.

Suffice to say, I haven't purchased or rented anything (except the free stuff) from Unbox since.
sorry to hear that. i had exactly the opposite experience. i emailed amazon and told them that my unbox movie was deleted by my tivo due to space issues. i didn't hear anything back from them, but when i got home from work last night, lo and behold, "we are marshall" was back in my "now playing" list, available until 11/2. i immediately set it to "save until 11/2".

don't know if amazon/tivo can/will fix the issue. but at least they seem to be fairly willing to make it up to those of us who are currently being slighted.
