I'm looking for something that would let me remotely do what I can at the TV GUI (other than play the recordings or live TV). Apparently the remote access through the Tivo website doesn't work for Series 3, or the Tivo App.

I have a Python script which acts as a remote control, but I need to be near the TV to actually see what is being displayed. Not really very useful except for easier typing in a search.

I know there is a PyTivo, but I run on up to date Linux and it seems to require old versions. I'm not sure its the right thing anyway, I'm doing scheduling not extraction.

Is there anything else thats up to date for Linux or Android that will work with Series 3?

The only way to control a S3 is using the remote protocol you're already using. As lhvetinari said the other features, like the website, app and kmttg all use RPC/mind which is only available for S4 or newer units. Back in the old days TiVo did have a website that would allow you to schedule recordings on older units using a website, but it used some old messaging protocol that they've long since shut down.

Slingbox 500 or M2 will just do that. I am using my Slingbox 500 right now watching content on my PC as I type this. Do a search for Slingbox and there is already a lot of info, but ONLY the Slingbox 500 and M2 (maybe M1) are guaranteed to work after the change away from browser extensions for PC, but Sling apps for mobile should still work. Price for Slingbox may be high because they are no longer being manufactured but Slingboxes still function and should continue to do so for some time.
