I’ve been a TiVo customer since May 2004. I currently have two boxes. One is 11 years old and the other is 7 years old. Both with lifetime service. I’d like to replace each of them with TiVo edge for cable boxes. Any way I could get a break on them? Any way to transfer lifetime service (or at least a discount on it?). The thought of paying $2,000 on boxes makes me a queasy.

They just had a sale, may still be on. Why do you want to replace them?

Unlikely you can transfer lifetime.

I have a Premiere with lifetime that I don't use (moved to Channels DVR and a PC server). I got an email they are getting rid of live technical support for old models like that. They gave me a code for $200 off a TIVO Edge for cable. I don't get cable tv and won't use the code. I don't know if my code is linked to me or if I could give it to you. When I clicked the link, the TiVo EDGE for cable 2TB is $399.99 and the Service Plan-All-In is $549. So, it looks like about $950 minus $200 code equals $750 for a new TiVo for cable with lifetime. Ouch. That seems like way too much money. In the past, I took advantage of those Summer Breeze sales. I don't think they had one last year. What you really need is that Summer Breeze sale where you get a low price on a new device with lifetime and they deactivate your old ones. I wouldn't hold out much hope for that. Good luck!!!! And let me know if you want that coupon code. I don't visit this site often--I just came here today to see if anyone was talking about that email and the end of live technical support for older boxes.

Huh. Is it just Premiere and older that they're dumping live support for, or is it Roamio too?
Here's what was in the email:

"Effective July 31, 2021, for TiVo Premiere and older DVR models, we are transitioning from live technical support to our around-the-clock virtual chat assistant and troubleshooting guide at TiVo Support. For all TiVo Roamio and newer DVR models, as well as the TiVo Stream 4K, we will continue to provide live technical support. For a complete list of models subject to this change, visit our TiVo Product Support FAQs."
