September 2022. Heck of a wait.

https://www.theonering.net/torwp/20...rings-series-release-confirmed-for-fall-2022/

Note that the image is apparently of Valinor, the 'heaven' of Middle-Earth, during the First Age and the time of the Two Trees. The series is said to take place during the Second Age, so having such a fantastic image apparently from a flashback bodes well.

Any bets on the figure in the foreground being Galadriel?

Wow Amazon is spending a boatload on this show. They must be really confident it is going to do well. I hope it's good because it does seem like it could be a really interesting show and not ruin everything people liked about the movies.

Why don't they just name it Sylmarillion and be done with it. Or Sylmarillion: The Second Age (in case they care to make a prequel).
Because non-nerds have no idea how to pronounce it or spell it?

Or maybe because "Lord of the Rings" was an epic trilogy that a lot of non-nerds have heard of?

Or both?

According to the second link in the OP, only a portion of the Silmarillion has been licensed to Amazon, and it hasn't been confirmed that this series contains storylines exclusively from that book.

Isn't it simply pronounced the way it is spelled? (Wojciehowicz) I always just read it as Sil-mah-rillion (with the stress on the 3rd syllable).

The show is about the Second Age which is from the Sylmarillion (mind you, everything is "from" the Sylmarillion).

Only 396 more sleeps.

Lots of info have come out of Vanity Fair behind the scenes:

The One Ring .Net has been going crazy. This is the group who originally covered the 2001 Lord of the Rings.

I thought the teaser was successful in whetting everyone’s appetite for what’s coming.

The same clucking we’re seeing now is what was seen from the reveals from Peter Jackson’s production 20+ years ago. It’s all just more visible on social media now.

New teaser/trailer has landed

A breakdown here:

and here:

Speculations ahoy:
So we see even more of the First Age. The Two Trees in all of their glory. The red ‘vision’ underwater may be the Kinslaying as witnessed by Galadriel. The drawing of swords may either be The Oath of Feanor taken by his sons, or it could be an early meeting of future Nazgûl; I can’t tell if they are Elves or Men.

More Harfoots, with a Wise Woman character I don’t think we’ve seen before.

Lots more Dwarves. A fantastic glimpse of Khazad-Dum at its height. And Durin possibly showing an early find of mithril.

The Royal Family of Numenor and Sundry. The Royal Fam being Ar-Pharazon, and the queen Tar-Mirie. And Sundry being Elendil himself, and Isildur.

I’m totally stoked for this!

I watch these trailers and it just looks so overwhelming. The series does look good, but I hope watching the show from the beginning won't be too much to take in. Definitely does look movie-quality.
