Just binged all of Altered Carbon, season 2 (8 episodes).

This is a Spoilers Allowed thread.

I read the Altered Carbon series years ago, so what happened was not unexpected.

Kovacs finds himself on Harlan's World in a customized, top-tier military combat sleeve (Anthony Mackie.) His job is to protect Michael Shanks. When he awakens (episode 1) after needle-casting to Harlan's World, it is too late to protect Shanks.

But there is more going on than that, of course...someone is killing Methuselahs, corrupting their stacks AND their backups. Which means Real Death to the victims, who have the best security and backups available, for all the good it does them.

Binged season two this week since I'm traveling. Big "eh" from me. While season 1 fell apart near the end, I really liked the noire, detective style; season 2 seemed to be more mindless action/gunplay.

I also found it really interesting that you couldn't get through an episode of season 1 without either (or both) male and female full frontal, we got one boob shot in all of season 2. During the scene explaining how Quell had been held captive they stuck her hair to her chest almost comically.

Did anything ever explain *how* Poe was back?

He was always going to come back after eventually having to reboot because of the glitches, the thing that made him reluctant to reboot was that he would lose all his memories.

MIss Digg wrote code designed to preserve his memories but the code did not work. Fortunately Poe had a back up plan, when Miss Elizabeth told him that the time had come that he had to reboot he put a sticky note with the hotel's address on his hand.

He arrived at the hotel with no memories other than those written on the sticky note after in his words "decompressing for three months, ten days, 12 hours, and 55 seconds".

(decompression has a bonus anthropomorphic connotation)

I meant between seasons 1 and 2. He was "killed" at the end of Season 1.

Poe isn't flesh and blood he is code. Last time he was seen in series 1 he hadn't been deleted he was glitching telling Miss Elizabeth in the words of the Edgar Alan Poe poem Annabel Lee neither angels or demons could ever dissever his soul.

Audience reports that he had been killed in the words of Mark Twain were greatly exaggerated.

(Miss Digg reinvented herself as Annabel Lee in series 2)

But that "glitching" was presented as him dying in season 1. I feels cheap for him to just be back with no explanation (other than continued glitching, which apparently he's gotten by with for 30 years?).

I binged it over a couple of days and found it to be very entertaining. Confusing in some parts since I never read the books and had forgotten a ton of what happened in season 1.

I loved the first year and was enjoying #2. As soon as Corporal bad guy came in things went downhill. All of a sudden the story is not about our star (Anthony Mackie), its about Falconer and this rich lady and Colonel bad guy.Falconer has the runs or something and is not up to par; she resurrects herself and somehow a dead guy reigns angelfire down--killing our hero who had about 4 lines in the past 2 episodes. I figured ep 9 and 10 would sort things out...BOO! No 9 no 10...just a big hole in my soul. are we to assume that giant file at the end is Kovacs? The scene where Falconer has to prove she is who she says she is was cool. Gave an indication of just how ass kicking an envoy can be.I will watch again- prepared for 8 episodes.

I really disliked the inquisition scene--we're an advanced civilization, so to prove that someone is who she says she is, we'll play 20 questions. While doing some fighting, because otherwise it'd be too boring of a scene.
