Just to tell you my setup:

ISP is Fios 1 gig down/up. The Fios G1100 router has both a coax and ethernet connection to it (Our house was wired for a triple play).

Two Fios Network Extenders both on Moca (The router is mounted inside our coat closet).

Family room: has coax outlet only. We have a Fios 2-way splitter on it and connected are the Network Extender and Bolt Vox. The Bolt Vox also has ethernet connected to extender.

Bedroom1: Only coax outlet here as well. Just Extender connected to it. Have mini vox connected via ethernet to extender.

Bedroom2: Only wired for ethernet (ethernet run through walls direct connection to fios router). Mini Vox connected to ethernet.

So at random (appears to be 15-30 min intervals, sometimes can go for an hour), I will get error code on Bedroom1 (V874) saying the connection to DVR has been lost.

For some troubleshooting, I've had Bedroom2 playing at same time and it has no issue.

So other things I've done is swap Minis between Bedroom1 and Bedroom2. Then the error still happened inside bedroom1 so the Minis are working.

Swapped out ethernet cord between extender and mini in bedroom1. Issue still happening.

Swapped out Fios Extenders from family room and bedroom1 (just switched the extenders). Issue still happening.

I've had Tivo service for about 60 days now. Bought Tivo Bolt brand new through eBay and Mini Voxes through Best Buy. This issue started happening only yesterday.

Anyone have any tips on what I can try next or if there is some known issue with my setup and I've just been fortunate til now?

EDIT: Observations when the error happens-->

If I press the LiveTV button in Bedroom1 (assuming I am watching LiveTV) the program resumes playing almost immediately. In the situation where I am watching a recording that is not the case (I assume the mini is trying to search for the bolt again).

Also all of my other devices connected via wifi don't (or at least don't appear to) lost connection.

If for some reason I am wrong about that then that means the disconnect and reconnect is happening so quickly that it is negligible to the human eye but enough for Tivo to complain.

Can you provide the MoCA Power Levels out of the TiVo devices Network Diagnostics page?

Also, when it disconnects, can the Mini still connect to the Internet? TiVo updates or YouTube?

-KP
I'm sorry I don't see that. On the bolt I went to Network Settings, Network Troubleshooting, a and I don't see a diagnostic page. I have Internet Connection, Network Status, TCP Port Test and DNS Test. Checked them all and didnt see Moca power level entries (it does say the tivo is currently using ethernet though)

Maybe you're not even using any of the TiVo MoCA capability anyway.

But, can the Mini still connect to the Internet after the 'issue' has occurred?

-KP
Not immediately. And I'm basing that off of when I pressed the tivo button didnt see anything in My Shows or Apps for a while.

If your "Extenders" are actually MoCa adapters, then you may not even need to use them on a Mini. They have built-in MoCa. Most Bolts also have them built-in.

Well I need them cause I only have coax in two rooms and ethernet in one. To my knowledge you cant mix both with tivo

If these ARE MoCa adapters, then you should be able to connect by MoCa and its coax on the Mini WITHOUT another MoCa adapter/extender.

Minis can be set up for ethernet or MoCa within the Settings / Network menu.

FYI, just calling them extenders is pretty vague. You might want to include Make/model numbers.

FYI, you can. Example: You have a Tivo Bolt DVR on ethernet in one room, Mini on Moca in bedroom. The Mini just needs a path to the router via coax/MoCa.

Although calling them extender may be accurate, since MoCA is just and extension of your network into the coax.

Then what is all of this whole home dvr nonsense tivo talks about and how the entire network needs to either be all moca or all ethernet? Let's not forgot the 2nd mini ONLY has access to ethernet and cant use moca.

I just added a part on that in the last post.

You can always experiment, IE: remove 1 extender from a Mini, go into settings/ Network and switch to MoCa. See if it can connect to the DVR/Tivo Service.

I have this
Fios Network Extender | Verizon Internet Support

Model WCB6200Q. Any known issues using 2 of them over coax?

Btw I went to my bolt and tried to enable moca both as bridge and client. Settings said enabled for each but I could not connect to the internet. It also made my bolt UI really sluggish so I reverted back to ethernet.

The Fios Network Extender (FNE) is a wireless network adapter that broadens your network connection and gives you extra Wi-Fi coverage in your home.
That clearly is not a MoCa adapter.

Its a wifi extender, for which, does not have the bandwidth needed for a Mini.

Verizon Fios should have MoCa on its router/Gateway, enable it if it isn't.
Check the coax cable at one end near the router is the same connection at the other end (at Mini). If it is, you can just leave out this extender, set for MoCa.

Leave the Bolt connected as ethernet.

MoCA stats are semi-hidden on the Network Status page(s); you have to use the Channel Down/Up buttons to scroll through them.

Also, you'll only see MoCA stats on your MoCA-networked TiVo boxes - and from my reading of your OP, none of your TiVo boxes should be configured for MoCA, since they're all connected via Ethernet. You'll especially want to make sure that MoCA is disabled on your BOLT, since having it configured as a MoCA client and connected via Ethernet could cause some confusion.

You can. A TiVo whole home setup officially supports a mix of wired Ethernet and MoCA boxes.

Your G1100 should be acting as your main MoCA/Ethernet bridge (built-in) and all your TiVo boxes have built-in MoCA networking, so the WCB6200Q FiOS Network Extenders are not needed for your TiVo networking ... but networking the TiVos via Ethernet through these adapters is a configuration many have used, to simplify the coax setup.

Then what is all of this whole home dvr nonsense tivo talks about and how the entire network needs to either be all moca or all ethernet? Let's not forgot the 2nd mini ONLY has access to ethernet and cant use moca.
That would be nonsense wherever TiVo has said/written that. TiVo officially supports all Ethernet, all MoCA or a mix of both. (You're on your own if attempting Powerline or wireless.)

You must keep the BOLT configured as Ethernet-only if you have it connected via Ethernet to the WCB6200Q; otherwise, the BOLT and WCB6200Q would both be bridging coax/MoCA to Ethernet and would create a network fault. You could try the BOLT as a MoCA client, but only after emptying its Ethernet port.

That clearly is not a MoCa adapter.

Its a wifi extender, for which, does not have the bandwidth needed for a Mini.
Not only is it a MoCA adapter, but it's a bonded MoCA 2.0 adapter ... that just happens to have 2 GigE switch ports and a wireless access point. Basically, the descendent of the WCB3000N.

As for bandwidth, the throughput between the standard MoCA 2.0 G1100 and a WCB6200Q would be limited by the G1100's lesser spec, so just 400 Mbps ... far more than needed by a Mini, or this BOLT.

If the FiOS Network Extenders are needed for wireless coverage, they're a good fit ... though why FiOS chose to support bonded MoCA 2.0 for the extenders but just standard MoCA 2.0 for the gateway is a mystery. Of course, if you find the 400 Mbps throughput limiting, you could supplant the G1100's built-in MoCA bridge with a standalone bonded MoCA 2.0 adapter to expand the throughput max up to 800 Mbps.

Ok everyone so it looks like I've been recommended to do the following:

1. Verify the G1100 has its moca bridge functionality turned on (which apparently it should already have been?)

2. Get my Bolt configured as Moca CLIENT ( NOT Bridge). Side question, any channel I need to choose in particular?

3. Mini in Bedroom1 currently has no coax splitter so need coax splitter so I can connect both extender and mini with coax. Then configure mini to use moca.

4. According to how Tivo whole home setup is supposed to work, Tivo in Bedroom2 should still work over ethernet.

Am I wrong on anything here or missing something?

As a side note, both of these fios extenders exist also for non tivo reasons. Extender with Bolt was so that I can have my desktop pc in same room connected via ethernet. Extender in Bedroom1 is because we identified that the wifi signal was weakest in that room.
