Well, shock value and villain of the week seems to really be shaping up as the formula for this show. There was little to tell us about the mystery surrounding the 63s.

Actually felt that this episode dragged along more than previous ones.

Was ANYONE surprised that the guy murdered in 1960 Alcatraz was the 'bully'? Oh, and the fact that the guy was poisoned, with a famous poisoner sitting next to him, and he wasn't a suspect??

Come on! I can suspend belief, but not THAT much!

Maybe he was worried about his abs?
And of course they'd import some poisonous berries to plant on Alcatraz. Why not? What could possible go wrong?
I'm finding the lack of attention to detail by the writers almost too much to overcome. I'm struggling to remember the scene now, but there was one part where they did something so incredibly stupid, that it just keeps taking me out of the moment. I am *not* one of those people that get all worked up by small details (how else can I watch so many CBS procedurals:D), but in this show, they are just so glaring.

That, combined with the plodding nature of the stories, is putting this show right on the bubble for me. I'm starting to have trouble keeping up with the influx of shows to watch, and this may not make the cut. One more week... (haven't I said that before:rolleyes:).

Now that I think about it, there were several eye-rolling moments. McKee walks up to the BART driver, and the operator just opens his door. Hellooo, security rules? And the ease with which they cover up all these events (BART poisoning, pool mass murders, etc). In today's hyper-connected world, this would be all over the 'Net. No way a news anchor puts out a coverup blurb. This ain't 1962, ya' know?

I also don't like how Hauser cuts baby-face short when she finally starts asking about the time gap. Here she is, finally asking someone "what the hell happened and why are you here in 2012", and Hauser cuts her off. If I'm her, I cut HIM off and keep asking the questions. Seriously, people show up 50 years later, and all they focus on is catching them. How about figuring out WHY they are showing up, so maybe you can create an overall plan for capturing them.

Return my thunder or prepare to die.
Return my thunder or prepare to die.
NEVER!:D
But getting back to the episode... This one felt like a baddie of the week with poor resolution. The story didn't advance much either. Is there a relation to the Doctor in the coma dreaming and the inmate guy saying he's not dreaming anymore?
She lost her gun again! She got it right back at least, but come on!
These things usually don't bother me, but how could they have gotten from Alcatraz to the subway so fast? I couldn't even make it next door at that speed.
Why would that specific youtube video just pop-up on Hurley's screen?
Not really something that bothered me much, but does anyone actually call it "the subway" in the Bay Area? (Not all of it is underground, actually.) I've always just called it BART. There was probably some legal reason they didn't want to call it that. The train was labelled "SFTA".

After McKey falls on the tracks and get shocked, they climb down onto the tracks and touch him. Smart.

That's just how smart he is.

He can come up with search criteria that will show any appearance on the internet of any of the 63s, without the billions of false positives that would result if somebody as stupid as you or I tried.

He's using The Machine from Person of Interest

That was poor police tactics right there, you never lead with your pistol around a blind corner.

I was wondering that too, unless there is some escape hatch back to the island?

I think that was Lucy's computer and it must have a program searching for and pulling up crimes with similarities to what the inmates were incarcerated for.
I don't play Starcraft, but as far as I'm aware there's no way to see another player's "refresh rate". Not that that would make any difference, perhaps the other guy meant latency or ping time?

Also do they even make Starcraft for mainframes? ;)

Then they're just get a SSN.

I was thinking how having your base of operations on Alcatraz being really bad if you needed to get somewhere quick. Constantly having to boat yourself to and from the island would eat up a lot of your day.

I'm on the fence. When your secondary and guest stars are more interesting than your lead characters it's hard to keep interest in the show. The flashback scenes are far more interesting than what is going on in the present.

If the show removed the Rebecca character would anyone even miss her (besides those running scenes)? I don't know if it;s the actress or the writers portrayal of her that makes her seem so unimportant to the show. I'll stay on for a few more, but as of now I'm thinking of pushing this down the priority list.

Well, to be fair, John was wear "SFTA" coveralls.
;)

That said, this show just moved down my priority list due to this episode.

I think that the premise is interesting and they actually have a good cast but the writing is falling down here.

The plotholes are getting to me and without something else to step up (better characterization, a sense of fun), I can't just overlook them.

From what I've read on the web and reading between the lines on Jorge Garcia's podcast, there's been a lot behind the scenes turmoil on this show and it is affecting the writing quality.

While this hasn't reached the Terra Nova level of dumb, it's not engaging enough for me to keep it on my "first to watch list".

I'm only watching this show now because Sarah Jones is cute.
The plot holes are SO gaping on this one. Alcatraz to anywhere in an instant! I couldn't get from an underground bunker to the dock as fast as they got to the middle of a tunnel under the bay all the way across town. I decided to stop concentrating on the plot and wait for the running scenes. SP is on life support like the hottie doctor.
