Just got a new tv and a new tivo. I'm sitting here in the middle of my family room, surrounded by boxes, cables, remotes and packing material. (The corgis keep grabbing the packing material and using the boxes as jump obstacles.)
The cable guy comes out Friday to do the CableCard thing, but I want to get everything set up first.
I've looked at the cabling diagrams, but none quite fit my configuration. I'm sure I'll figure this out, but if anyone feels like jumping in with suggestions, I'd love it.
Here's what I've got:
TV: Samsung DLP/HLT6189S
Brand new, has HDMI, S-Video, component options
New TIVO Series 3/TCD652160
Brand new, HD kind, with HDMI and S-Video and USB and Ethernet options
New Tivo WirelessG USB network adapter (we have home networking for our other tivos)
New Samsung DVD-R160 DVD Reader/Writer
Has HDMI out, S-Video, etc.
Tivo Series 2/Pioneer DVR 810-S with dvd burner
Would like to keep this one around for lots of reasons, one of which is I can burn dvds of non-hd content this way.
Older Cable Box: Motorola DCT2224 (which we'd need for the Series 2 Tivo even when we have cable cards for the new tivo)
I've decided to remove the old Pioneer/Dolby DVD Tuner (Home Theater in a Box) thing and replace it with a better audio system--I'll go to a different forum for advice there, but know that an audio system is going to be thrown in to this mix.
I also have a new Harmony remote.
Is this a workable solution? Should I just toss the old tivo into a bedroom closet somewhere or can I make this work?
TIA for any advice.
