Additional Cables required? (HR20)

I apologize if this has been answered -- I did a search and while there is SOME info out here, I can't seem to find a final definitive answer.

I have a 2 LNB dish and run 1 of 2 output wires into a Diplexor at my OTA Antennae. So currently I only have 2 wires that run into my house - neatly BEHIND THE WALL. The feed from the diplexor of course then is "split" into my HR10-250 so that I can pick up OTA HD as well as the 2 Satellite inputs.

When/if I do the upgrade to the new HR20, will I be able to use the existing lines into the house (Mpeg4)? (seems like if there is an addition Sateliite, I'll need another cable.) Or will I be required to run yet an additonal Cable(s) into the house? This is my issue - it will be next to impossible to run another line in along side the other 2 ... and may be the deal breaker for us to stay with D*.

Does anyone know of a link of a picture for how this new setup is configured?

OTA can't be diplexed onto MPEG4 sat cables.

To use the new MPEG4 sats you will need the AT9 5LNB dish which has four outputs. If all you need are two lines to the HR20, then only the two lines you have will suffice. However, for the OTA you'll need a separate line. If you need more than four lines, then the extra multiswitch (WB68) needs four lines connected.

There is a technology available called SWM (single wire multiswitch) which will help you. The 5LNB dish will connect to the SWM and then there is only one line into the house where it is distributed. You second line can then be dedicated to the antenna.

Very cool ... Thank you SO much Jim .... Actually, I'm not convinced yet whether I actually NEED the OTA since LILs will be included for the SF Bay Area. But if I "do", I think you provided me the solution. Now I hope the D* installers understand how to install this - else I may have them just deliver the receiver and go away.

The problem is, that SWM may not be that widely available. Do a search for it on the DBSTalk forum for more info.

You can't get PBS HD or CW HD yet via DirecTV so you may want OTA. Personally those 2 channels are not worth putting up the antenna I would need to get OTA anyway but YMMV. :)

Speak for yourself. Been recording the WWII special on HD OTA PBS!!! :)

Yea, I know ... me as well .... but actually, other than this recent broadcast, I have to agree - there hasn't been that much worth capturing in HD on PBS ...

Wonder what the plan (e.g., Date) is for PBS HD to come into HD land over LIL's. Ever????

In my defense it would have to be a really big and tall antenna. I am over 70 miles from the towers. :)

IIRC DirecTV is planning to add them at some point but when is not known and could be a while.
