I purchased a Tivo Premiere from Weaknees with large drive. Drive is filling up fast still.

In order to attach an external drive to the Premiere, Weaknees has told me that the entire unit must be sent to them.

Is that true ?

Yes, its also not recommended to use externals.

You can get a drive as large as 8TB (or even 10TB), use MFSTools 3.x, follow the thread 8TB Premiere.

Failures anywhere between Tivo and External and you lose shows. Plus nothing is compatible with Tivo eSata. It used to have Tivo Expander drives, no longer made, only 500GB or 1TB.

You can also download to your computer/NAS using KMTTG, as long as they are not copy-protected.

10TB is huge, and to fill so quickly is a wonder.

Thnx. Already have Weaknees 10TB. Should just stop recording eevvrrything. Swapping some HD shows for SD
Wow, can't imagine filling up 10TB. lol

We have a Roamio Pro 3TB which we keep around 97% full with a number of movies and whole series that we haven't started yet. What are you recording that you aren't watching? :)

Also I would agree that you could download them to your computer for future viewing but have to question if you will ever get back to watching them.
