Let me 1st apologize if this has been asked before. I have been a Dish customer for years. I had a dvr through them and absolutely loved it. I had a dual receiver that had 2 remotes. The dvr was in the living room and I could watch recorded shows on either tv. Ok, then I moved about a month ago. Dish came out and told me I would not be able to get a signal because the way my building was sitting. So, I called Charter. My only other option. I have had them in the past and I really hate them. Now I have a dvr through Charter. They tell me I have to have digital service to work with their dvr. So, now I pay over $20 bucks a month and it sucks.
I have been considering Tivo and saw a really good deal on Amazon with a $100 service gift card. My ? is this: Do I keep the digital service or go back to analog to work with Tivo? Will I be able to watch recorded show on either tv? Please help. Thanks, Michelle

You can use analog cable with TiVo, but you'll not get any premium channels. You can also use digital cable with a cable box.

The best bet is TiVoHD with a CableCARD - this will get you all the channels without a separate cable box, and if you get two CableCARDs or one of the new multistream cards, you can record two channels at once.

You won't be able to watch your recorded shows on a second TV without a second TiVo. You can however find single tuner Series 2 TiVos for free (or sometimes you can actually make money back). Also there is the MSD (multi-service discount) of $6 off the monthly fee for additional TiVos which can make the monthly fee on the 2nd TiVo as little as $6.95 (depending on which service plan you select). With 2 TiVos you can transfer recordings from one to the other to watch on either TV (and you'll have an extra tuner in case 2 isn't enough).

If you buy a Series 2 Dual Tuner, you can record two things at once - either two from analog tuners, or one from the analog tuner and one from a digital tuner (cable box).

If you have no need for the digital channels, then by all means drop them and use your TiVo with just the analog input from the wall.

You could also do the same with a TiVoHD, if you want to by something that will be more compatible with digital TV, HDTV, etc.
