ABC shelves Cougar Town in midseason, no word on cancellation

A midseason return had been expected, but it looks like ABC had other ideas. Per E! Online, the network has once again shelved Cougar Town. No word from Bill Lawrence yet (he's on vacation and hasn't been tweeting much), but from what he's said they've already taped the majority of the show's order.

Not sure I can deal with the loss of both Community and Cougar Town in the same week. :(

It will air later this season, after Work It! fails miserably.

Also saw this on Twitter:
Take a deep breath, COUGAR TOWN fans. It's set to be paired with Paul Lee's favorite APARTMENT 23 and neither were on today's release.
Paul Lee is the president of ABC, so if he's high on Apartment 23 and it wasn't scheduled yet either, then we can expect they'll both show up later in the spring when other shows have finished their runs or have flamed out.

Also, I'm sure you're aware that the same is true for Community. It will still air its full order, it just doesn't have a timeslot yet. They're waiting to see how other stuff does.
DWDC.

<ducks>
DWDC.

<ducks>
DWDC -- Danzink Wvit De Czars?
DWDC -- Dinner With Dick Clark?
Don't Watch, Don't Care. :)
Then why even post? cough *threadcrap* cough.
There are several shows that are as good as dead on ABC's midseason slate, such as "Work It" which is probably the show with the most bad reviews since "Cavemen." I wouldn't worry about it being off the air long.

This!

Not getting too upset yet but yeah.

Oh and according to SpoilerTV, it's been cut to 15 episodes returning in March.
I read somewhere that ABC had a lot of new shows and they are looking for slots. This probably means most bubble shows are toast.
Haven't they been trying to change the title of the show? Maybe this has something to do with it?

I think changing the title in a shows third season is absurd.

Bill Lawrence always jokes about it, but he's not serious. They're not changing the name.

I have read numerous stories about this. I didn't realize they were all coming from Bill Lawrence tweets. He has gotten an awful lot of press over this. Smart guy.....
Tweets from Busy Philipps:

So- CougarTown wasn't cancelled- they reduced the # of shows we'll shoot this season (from 22 to 15) and not quite sure of our air date...

and

We've already shot 10- so now just 5 more. Sad cause the writers had amazing stuff planned+the incredible crew will have to find other jobs.

hmmmmmm.....I believe there's a link here somewhere :D

(fans of both these shows will understand!)

They joke about it at the beginning of each show in the title scene in case people are FFing through.

Bill Lawrence will be hosting viewing parties of several as-yet-unaired episodes, the locations of which will be announced tomorrow via his Twitter feed (@VDOOZER). LA and NYC are definites, as well as four other unknown cities.
I don't follow twitter.... can someone who does post that info here please? Thanks.
It's official, per his Twitter feed:

Cities for Cougar Town Viewing Parties (subject to change): NYC, LA, Chicago, Sarasota, Lexington (Kentucky), Atlanta, Phoenix (dates to come).
I know we will add at least one more city based on fan enthusiasm...
Also, not planning on making it hard to get tix, though I imagine for most you'll need to be 21 (bars...).
He also plans to have cast members as guests, if this one is any indication:

I will find ways to branch out to other cities (maybe with writers instead of cast...). The plan is to have an open tix call. No contest.
So I'm confused, is this show done on ABC?
