My Tivo S3 is very very slow to react when browsing Unbox or Tivo Cast programs.

Also it takes forever to download things It took over 4 hours to download Chuck yesterday. The file size for Chuck is around 900MB that would take around 30 minutes to download from a fairly fast server on my PC or laptop. The Tivo is plugged directly into a linksys bridge. I have Comcast cable and generally get around 5-6Mbps transfer rates, sometimes even better, using my laptop (wireless) or desktop PC.

Another odd thing is that periodically the channel display pops up when I'm not even using the remote.

Yeah, that menu is VERY slow on my S3 as well. Downloads of TiVoCast shows take forever, much longer than would be expected considering I've got FIOS. I've never tried UnBox so I don't know about that one.
I agree Unbox downloads take a long time, but 4 hours for a 44 minute show is extreme. It took me much less than 1/2 of this when I downloaded Chuck. My best guess is that it took about 1 hour to download. I will try again tonight.

I have Comcast and a Series 3 hard wired to a Linksys router. Took about 10 minutes yesterday to download The Bionic Woman from unbox. 4 hours for one show does sound pretty bad. Think there might be a problem with your home network or cable signal? Have you gone out to any of the speed check sites to actually measure your download speed?

Well, I hooked my laptop up to the bridge, went to Cnet's test site and several others. The best speeds I got were an astounding 12000Kbps (must be that Comast speed boost they advertised) the average speed I got was more around 3000kbps, and the lowest I got was 300kbps (once). For the most part I was getting rates between 2000kbps and 4000kbps. The bridge works fine. So something is up with the Tivo.

Right now I am downloading a Channel Frederator Tivocast, it show it as being .29GB in size. WOW. That show is only about 10 minutes long. They really need to compress a little better, when I download Frederator episodes on my computer they are much smaller in file size, with excellent video quality.

OH, and after watching Chuck well....I can say I'll never ever pay a dime for an Unbox program. The Widescreen had to be zoomed on my HD TV, and the quality wasn't great. I'd most certainly never want to view a movie this way. 30 days to watch a show, and 24 hours to view it once you've started it the first time....hmmm Netflix or Blockbuster Online destroys Unbox with value and convenience. It's not like I could download the movie and watch it right away.

Just an FYI - I have comcast and get similar download speeds to you. On Speakeasy.net/speedtest, I got 12,615kbps download/1578kbps upload (San Francisco) . . . otherwise, I don't know why your Unbox dowloads are so slow. Sorry.
