I read somewhere that you can program your remote to have a 30 second fast forward feature. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Start playing a show from Now Playing.

Press: Select - Play - Select - 3 - 0 - Select

You will hear 3 beeps. Now this button ->| will be a 30-second skip.

This sequence is a toggle -- do it again to trun it off. Also, if your TiVo ever reboots, you will have to enter it again.

Thank you! I read about this here a couple days ago and used it today. Impressed the heck out of my hubby who has not had as much play time with the new tivo as I have had (poor guy had to work all weekend). thanks for this hint to get us thru commercials a bit faster!!!

I don't have a >l button, only a -> for fast forward. I can't get the above fix for the 30 second skip to work. Will it work with this? Thanks

It's the "Skip to Tick" or "Jump to Live" button. On my remotes (S2 SAs), the button is about 2/3 of the way down on the right side.

IIRC, this trick doesn't work with all TiVos, but I could be wrong.

Look for the button the looks like (->|).

And, I believe it is the Toshiba DVR/DVD combo unit that can't do the 30s skip.
