Today I tried to help a buddy of mine change his Old Dish with a new Oval one with three LNBs. He has two R10s and is about to add a HD dvr of some sort. But we were only able to get signal on the B and C satellite. B was in the high 90s and C was in the low to mid 90s. BUT the A satellite had no signal at all on all transponders.

Any ideas? We plan to resume the battle tomorrow.

I checked the receiver this morning and we are getting many more than three transponders on Sat B.

Before we get back on the roof we are receiving on Sat. B the transponders: 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32.

On Sat. C we are receiving: 8, 10 , and 12.

Is this still and aiming issue?

Sorry for the repost we are running out of time I am about to assume the LNB group is bad and buy a new one at best buy or Fry's.

Make sure that the mast is perfectly plumb.
Then set the skew for your location.
Then the elevation.
Now you can adjust the azimuth to peak the signals.
If the skew is off just a little you could miss Sat A.
Or if the mast isn't plumb.
It wasn't as critical with the round dish, since it only pointed at one satellite.
But, the triple LNB dish has to point to three that are in an arc.

Is there an additional multiswitch being used?
Do all receivers not have Sat A?

No extra multiswitch, just the built in one.

Both R10 receivers are getting nothing at all on the Sat. A but great signals on B and C.

Thanks for the help we played with the dish for about a hour yesterday never got any signal on Sat A. With a round dish I could usually nail it in about 4 minutes. It is pretty hard to plumb and hold on the top of this roof very steep angle. We wanted to stay with the same pole but does not have the circular level in it. But if we can say it is most likely an aiming problem we will retry and know that is what we need to fix.

The mast is absolutely plumb, we were however able to get Satellite A but we totally lost B & C.

We were unable to get Sat "A" grouped with "B" & "C" it was always all or none.

His receivers are working for now and next weekend we will take another stab at it.

Any ideas? Or is it next to impossible to aim these things. I can usually stab a transmission in two or less shots. We are both very capable with our hands.

Although it is not the normal way to pursue this, since you can get B and C so well, and it appears you really are on B and C, I would suggest you get back to that point then very slowly adjust your tilt to see if you can bring in A. You might also have to adjust elevation. The 3-LNB is normally not anywhere near that difficult to align.

If that doesn't get it for you, then I'd probably replace the LNB assembly.
