No way the show would generate enough interest for an episode specific thread so, too bad

I'm calling Shinannegans on this Mark Balio guy, just like Darell. He's either a show plant or somebody who wants to be famous. He doesn't know crap about crap.

While watching a recent episode with my daughter, I whipped out my iPhone and checked out NES 001 on eBay. The appraiser seemed to be right on.

This show was a fraud to begin with, but compared to the other versions was the only one that at least felt like there was an attempt at trying to be genuine. Having owned a storage facility in CA for 25 years, it just doesn't happen like this. I'm sure every pawn shop in Nevada would say the same about Pawn Stars. All of these shows are seeded with customers and casted regulars, they wouldn't make it through the pitch phase otherwise.

Wonder if anyones been to the shops of Jarrod/Brandi or Dave 'Yep' Hester and commented on it. I'm betting the Passantes make more from the show then the shop.

Barry is very amusing to watch. The other characters seem to be nimrods with no redeeming qualities, capped by that Mark guy. Luckily he didn't seem to stick around for long. The show is currently oscillating between having Jarrod or Darrell as blockers for Dave.

Darrell seems to be coasting along on previous gambles that paid off.

The auctions themselves seem like a total joke. People spending thousands of dollars on obvious junk, most of which will just cost money to haul to a landfill? Still, this show and Pawn Stars are amusing enough to waste 22 minutes on when I want to just shut the brain off and do nothing.

There are reviews for Jarrod's shop on Yelp. I stumbled onto it one day.

Barry makes this show for me. I LOVE him. As a result, I love this show.

An interesting bored rich guy. Who admits he is a bored rich guy.

I doubt they are doing much in the way of "scripting" beyond dumping footage of auctions where they main characters just get crap or nothing at all. I'm just wondering what Darrell does with the normal stuff he buys. There are no mentions of him having a thrift store, so I guess he goes to flea markets.

Yup. The alleged $13,000 was not for the NES, but for the sealed copy of Stadium Events that was in the auction.

I still enjoy the show. I did enjoy Jarrod's tactic with Dave this week to not even let him finish his YEP. Like others I like Barry and I think Jarrod and Brandy are a bit of a hoot.

I hate Dave.

I guess I'm in the minority in that Barry annoys me. I guess I just don't like dilettantes.

Actually there aren't too many of them that I like. Probably Jarrod and Brandi are the most relatable.

The real winners are the husband/wife auction team. IIRC, the get 40% of what the unit sells for with no risk. I saw them driving away in a Masaratti in an episode last year.

Can you elaborate on the 40% thing? I don't understand.

Every time I watch this show, I wonder when Brandi will do the obligatory Maxim spread.

IIRC they get a flat % of the selling price of the locker and then the storage company gets the rest. So if they sell a locker for $100 they autmatically get $40 of it. That % could be 50%-60% the more I think about it. That is their "fee" for doing the auction.

Somebody else mentioned that all of the major buyers just follow them around from storage place to storage place, so they do have their followers/buyers to bring to the storage facitly rather than just rely on a newspaper article.

I think all of this info was in the thread for las seasons show if you want to check it out. There was even somebody posting that owned a storage place and had some GREAT insight from their perspective. Worth a read!

I watch and enjoy Auction Hunters and to a lesser degree Storage Hunters.

For anybody who watches those AND Storage Wars, how would you rate the three (or whichever ones you watch).

I kind of enjoy these types of shows (mostly as filler around a whole bunch of other stuff I watch), but can't load up too much on them. Just wondering if it's worth catching this one, or pretty much just more of the same?

1. Storage Wars - It's amusing, and it doesn't take itself too seriously
2. Auction Hunters - If the two guys weren't so proud of themselves and so arrogant, I would like it more.
3. Storage Hunters - Can't stand it, since it's not real, and is fake drama. No thanks.

Dave has got to be one of the most annoying people ever. Seeing him lose units is highly amusing.
