It's beyond a hassle, it's a problem. I am supposed to be receiving my new TiVo in the mail tomorrow (I'm a first time user), and I found out after researching yesterday that the wireless adapter I ordered with the TiVo won't work until the TiVo has been upgraded. So I did a lot more research and found that I can set it up using a supported wired adapter. Then today after purchasing a Netgear FA120 in anticipation of receiving my TiVo I decided to look up more info on my specific adapter, and many people have reported that they couldn't do the initial setup with the FA120, or that something has changed in TiVos shipped more recently that may have broken the ,#401 backdoor. I'll be more than a little angry if I end up having to take the brand new unit over to a friend's house to use a phone line. It'll be an inconvenience for me, them, and I won't be able to use it as quickly as I would if it were in my own home.
