TiVo support is closed, so I am hoping someone will have an answer.

I ordered a new Mini VOX over the weekend, which is now the 13th Device on my account, now my oldest Mini V1 will not connect to a Host DVR. Is there a limit of 12 devices per account? I'm thinking TiVo removed the oldest Mini V1, even though it is still listed as an Active device on my account.

I receive the following error message using KMTTG to pull up the Info on that Mini.

RPC error response:
{
"code": "bodyNotConnected",
"text": "Destination not in sharing group.",
"type": "error"
}

There is (I believe, it doesn't come up alot) a limit of 12 devices that can be enabled for "Video Sharing". And once you cross that line, truly strange things happen. The people who have crossed that line have reported needing to go remove video sharing from a box or two (a checkbox on the device management page), then rerun daily calls on everyone to get their 12 units playing nicely again.

Thanks for the response, the Mini in question is at my moms home. I'm headed there tomorrow so I'll play with the check boxes, but only the DVRs have the "Video Sharing" checkbox, not the Minis.
I'll take her a spare Mini I have that still works at my house and bring that one home with me.

One other odd thing with my TiVo account, under "Device options" all devices now say "There is an open balance in your account" I don't remember what that used to or should say. I think it used to say "Device already has Lifetime/All In".

Am I able to move some of these TiVos to a newly created account on my own, or do I need TiVo Supports assistance to do that.

I think you have the right idea, create another account and move the Tivos that are not actually in your household to the new acct. And yes, you will have to contact Tivo and authorize moving to the new acct. What you are doing now is actually against Tivo terms of service. The Tivos on your account are all supposed to be used ONLY in your household. Not sure how diligently they monitor that (ie some of the Tivos might be connecting from another zip code) but it is against TOS if they want to get picky (maybe that is why you are seeing the open balance messages.) Not sure how many households are involved (yours and your Mom's for sure) but I would have a separate account for each household/location. Keep in mind once you do that the Tivos on separate accounts will not be able to access each other anymore since they will have different media access keys.

Just FYI, if Tivos on the same acct are being used in different households (against TOS) they could actually cancel the subscriptions on all the Tivos for violating TOS. So I'd get that new acct setup ASAP and make sure all Tivos being used at your Mom's place are on the new acct.

Yes, there is a limit and it is in the user agreement.

You may have a maximum number of 12 TiVo set-top boxes (DVRs or TiVo Mini boxes) on the same account.

TiVo attempted to remove and add to a 'different/separate' account a few devices I no longer had/or hadn't been active for years. They actually never accomplished that. It went on for several months and with a 'management group' person. I finally just gave up. I wasn't anywhere near the 12 device limit. They used 2 email addresses for the attempts and it was a mess.

Thanks Everyone. I will move my Moms TiVos to a new account. Hope TiVo does not screw that up.

One more Question:
After transferring a DVR to a new TiVo account, Does the CableCard need to be re-paired?
