After two episodes I was wondering if I should stick with it. It got better as it went along and, wow, what a finale. Loved it. One of the best series I saw all year. Without getting too political, but there's a lot of parallels between what's going on in but the US and Britain. Watching this a couple of days after John Oliver dressed down Boris Johnson, you could see the parallels between Johnson and Rook. Shame this is over. It left me wanting to spend more time with the family.

Looks like it may really may have been a Limited Series:

Will there be a Years and Years season 2? So far the BBC has yet to confirm if the show will return for a second series. However Russell T Davies might have shed some light on the matter, as he took to Instagram with a few words about the instalment due to air tonight. The series has taken a leap through time to a vision of Britain’s future. Posting a pic of characters Muriel (Anne Reid) and Stephen (Kinnear) he captioned the snap: ‘TOMORROW. It all ends, in the very last episode ever. Years and Years, BBC One, 9pm Tuesday.’ All of which sounds pretty conclusive about whether or not the show will be back – and rather ominous when it comes to the fates of the characters. Agree 100%- the above quote is EXACTLY how we felt- in the beginning for us it was just kind of a strange series that was oddly compelling. Hard to even put into words or understand what in the heck we were watching.

But as you said it continued to get better and better, and that final episode was absolutely incredible. Great, great series.

This show racked my every last nerve - every episode I was on the edge of my seat - but I loved it.

P.S. Does anyone know if it aired in time for Emmy consideration for this year?
I am wondering if it was passed over or not eligible. Or is it not eligible because it aired in the UK first?

P.S.S. I also marvel and am happy for the lack of online spoilers considering it finished airing in the UK a while ago...

It should be eligible next year.

The fact that it aired in the UK royally screwed up my recordings. I had it set for first run only, but the guide data showed that it aired months ago (because it did in the UK). So I wound up manually recording it each week, wondering why it never picked it up, and then realized why....for E6 :)

I am watching slowly, not to relish it like any other things, but because I have to break away from the bleak! Sheesh!

Yeah. The ending of Episode 4 really caught me off guard. I've been avoiding saying anything about it or even mentioning Episode 4 to friends who are watching it.

Wow! Best show I’ve seen in quite a long time. The ending finally gave me some hope out of all of the sadness. A whole combo cry happened over here.

What a fantastic cast, all around. Emma Thompson drew me in, then I fell in love with that entire family. Stephen even redeemed himself, somewhat...

Still a bit freaked about the concept of all that Bethany went through ever becoming our reality. Intrigued. And, very concerned.

I didn't time my HBO subscription right and it ended before I could see the last episode. In a spoiler box, can someone summarize what happened at the end?

Since you have a subscription, you can watch it in HBOGO using the App on TiVo (as well as Roku, TV, etc…)

I had a subscription, but it's not active anymore. I was using HBONow, which is their standalone streaming interface. I canceled it and didn't realize the end of the show would be after the subscription timed out.

While I'm sure someone could summarize this, the last episode makes the show. If you really enjoyed it I would find a way to watch the last episode somewhere.

A thousand times this. The entire mini-series came to an amazing conclusion in the finale. There is nothing, nothing, we could summarize that would do justice to it.

I agree with the above, but you can find a few re-caps of the finale with Google: years and years HBO series finale recap - Google Search

I'd just see if you can buy the episode somewhere on a one-off. It would be worth it.

Amazon Prime is offering a 7-day free HBO trial (I did a search over there for Years & Years just out of curiosity) - I dunno if that is how you got your HBO GO last time but - might be worth a try.
I know sometimes if your email is associated with a streaming service you can't get another free trial but also sometimes if you use a different email address you are able to set it up.

So I guess Bob Newhart wakes up and realizes it was all a dream :)

I'll try some of those trial options and see if I can get it that way. If not, I'm sure I'll have HBO again at some point and will catch it then.

Just to be clear, we're not picking on you. It really was an amazing ending, one of those "I didn't see that coming" type stories. A summary would be a disservice to you and the show.

    Good luck finding it!

No worries. I didn't take it that way at all. It got my curiosity peaqued. I'll probably try to watch it sooner to avoid the risk of randomly running into a spoiler.
