just got the new update on my Mini and SkipMode now works for recordings on non-host TiVo. Previously if you selected a TiVo other then the host via the devices list and played a recording SkipMode would not work. You had to change that TiVo to be the host if you wanted SkipMode. But I just played an show from my Bolt on a Mini that's set to have my Roamio as the host and saw the SkipMode icon. Pressed D and sure enough it actually worked! Yay!

That's great news! I always hated navigating to all those menus on Mini in order to get SM from the one DVR to the other.

Someone reported in the 20.6.3 update thread that Skipemode now also works with shows transferred between TiVo's so probably related.

I'm using 20.6.3 and I just transferred a program with SM from one Roamio to another. SM was lost.

I tried it on two recordings. On recorded before the TiVo was upgraded and one recorded after the upgrade. SM worked on the one recorded after the update but not on the one from before the update. So I'm assuming that there is some change to the way the SM data is stored after the update.

My fault. I didn't wait long enough. BTW, you can add this transfer onto the list of things that trigger a VCM Connection.

This is pretty cool! I wish I could figure out how to call the command online.tivo.com uses to transfer a recording remotely. Then I could set up an automated service that could transfer my OTA only recordings from my Bolt to my Romaio so they're all in one list.

hmmm. If I add this to my network of mini's and a Premiere4, likely replacing a mini, will I have SkipMode, using the P4 to be the host?

If you add what? Do you have a Roamio or Bolt?

    Good.

As far as I know, only Roamio and Bolt are SkipMode capable. In addition, I also believe that for a Mini to have SkipMode capabilities, needs to have Roamio or Bolt as host DVR.

    Somebody else can confirm?

right, that's what this thread is about though, playing a recording from a mini will have skipmode if the non-host on the network has it

Not quite. The device you're playing from still needs to support SkipMode. The way it was before you could only use SkipMode on shows that were played from the Host device, even if the you selected another device that supported SkipMode. So say you were in My Shows on the Mini and selected a Bolt or Roamio from the Devices list, if you played any recordings from that device they would not work with SkipMode. But if you changed the Mini settings to make that same Bolt/Roamio the host then SkipMode would work. The new software finally allows you to select a Bolt/Roamio other then the host from the Devices list and SkipMode still works.

This will not allow you to use SkipMode on recordings from a Premiere though, as the Premiere software itself does not support SkipMode.
