Has anyone been able to get the More Sports and Entertainment add-on activated on your CableCARD? I have been told different things by different Xfinity representatives, and after dealing with it for most of the day I still haven't been able to get the channels. One person told me that they require an X1 box and can't be added to a CableCARD. Has anyone else dealt with this?

While there may be a couple channels at best that can't be viewed on CC because they are IP-only, (Fox Sports 2 HD & Pac 12 come to mind, depending on your area) that is 100% BS.
First, do you have the appropriate base pkg to even be able to add it? You have to be at least on Extra & above, (or the equivalent of it on grandfathered packages) in order to add it on; you CAN'T add it if you only have have limited basic, or one of the new limited "theme" packages.
Second, have you tried adding it yourself on your account portal, & seeing if that works?

If you want more help, I'd create an account & try posting here; many people, including myself, have gotten their issues resolved thru these reps:

I have Extra, so that shouldn't be a problem. After speaking to the latest representative, the package is appearing on my account now (for the first time all day), although the channels still aren't showing on my CableCARD. They said it could take up to 24 hours, and it has only been about 45 minutes, so hopefully it is just a matter of time and they will appear. If I miss out on a few channels, like the ones you mentioned, I am perfectly ok with that. I just want the main channels like NFL and MLB Network. I'll give it until tomorrow, then contact support to request a refresh. If that still doesn't work, then I'll try the Comcast forum linked above.

I want LESS sports... and not to have to pay for the damn sports.

Just (re-)registered at this site to bump this thread and ask if the OP was ever able to address this issue with Comcast? I really want TCM and finally made the decision to give them an extra $10 a month but had a horrible experience with no resolution.

After adding the package online, the channels were not active. I had to call Comcast (which was a huge feat just to get connected to someone). I finally reached a nice rep who said that the order wasn't activated on my account for some reason. When he tried to activate it, he was unable to do so because he said I needed an XI box. I said, no that is not going to happen so he forwarded me to a rep in retention who was supposed to give me a package that does not require an X1 box. She was not helpful at all, and even made no effort to escalate the call to a manager or even offer me a discount for my inconvenience.

Has anyone been able to get this package work with a CableCard? Comcast is losing money from this household since we also tried to add MLB Xtra Innings this year and was told the same thing about needing an XI box (despite the fact it worked just fine without one last year.) Now I am even considering cancelling the cable altogether or finding a new provider.

MLB EI - as well as all the other season ticket packages like NBA LP & NHL CI - DID all go IP-only this year, so you were told correctly on that re: X1. If you REALLY want it, you could always add an X1 box, & still keep your Tivo. (I just got thru doing the same thing when I just redid my contract promo a couple weeks ago) It was only another $5/month, since I went on the new Simple & Easy pricing that we have in our area; unfortunately, not all Comcast regions offer this yet. :(

The TCM/S&E package add-on, (STILL) does not require an X1. Again, about the only suggestion I have, is what I told the OP before. (would have been nice if the OP would have given an update on issue here, so others like yourself could see the resolution... ;) )

A lot of people who want the sports don't want to pay for the channels you watch.

That may be true, but none of the other channels extort the cable companies like ESPN and the RSNs do... They are always at the top of the lists for "per customer" charges, with the possible exceptions of the premium channels we can opt in or out of.

I just moved to Florida and signed with Xfinity. They tell.me as a new subscriber I cannot get an m-card for TiVo. I must get their box. That’s bs. Is there other providers in Florida that support TiVo ?

My understanding is Comcast has to offer cablecards nationwide with no exceptions. I'd be careful about calling it an m-card though. It appears they have two different cablecards depending on the area. As for the bad info, I switch from phone to chat discussions until I get a good rep. I find that with call centers, the best reps probably work M-F 8-5 local time. I tend to have worse call center experiences at night and on weekends. If you have an Xfinity store in your area you might go there instead, I found the one near me was eager to please and very helpful.

You are correct about the best hours. I use to work for Comcast. They bid on their shifts. The length of service and sales determine when you pick. Since most people want to work Monday through Friday morning/afternoon that is when you do find the best reps.

    In the ATL
All cards are M-cards (either Motorola/Arris or Scientific Atlanta/Cisco) that support six tuners and have been for many years now. The card brand doesn't matter and you don't have a choice anyway.

I have 3 boxes and recently added Sports and Entertainment to all 3 cablecards. They never have tried to upsell me to an X1. Maybe there's a note on my account not to bother.

You have to call the Cable Card department.
I just recently upgraded my Comcast package and no one could figure out why I wasn't getting the upgraded channels.

You will have to read them some numbers from one of the cable card menus. They will recertify your card.

I am bumping this thread as I finally was able to solve it! I had pretty much resigned myself to living without TCM or breaking down and getting an X1 box. The last person I had talked to in the CableCard department told me there was "no way" I could get this package without an X1, that in my area it was not technically feasible.

I stopped by the Xfinity store to see if maybe they could hook me up with an X1 deal. The rep first advised me to just use the Xfinity stream app onmy Roku. Ok, not the best solution, but I decided to just add the package and watch it that way for the $10. But when he tried to add the package to my account, it would not take since I did not have an X1. (This was the problem I had the first time - the order still showed as pending.) The smart guy at the Xfinity store figured out if he made my CableCard secondary on the account, added an X1 to my account and then added the package, it would work. He then removed the X1 and restored my CableCard as primary.

I just came home and I am amazed that I now have TCM on my Tivo. I don't even have to use the Xfinity stream app! So basically the CableCard rep who told me it would not come through my equipment was wrong. It's just a software bug that won't let you add the package unless you have an X1 in the system.

I believe that is the way the system has been programmed. So, to the detriment of those of us who prefer not to rent the Comcast STB, it is not a bug but rather is working as designed.
