If TiVo bought Hulu?
Not sure if this is an old topic or not. But I could see value in that merger.
Not sure how all the other content delivers would feel about it or if TiVo would even be willing to keep some of them around (thinking Netflix and Amazon). Perhaps the there are common threads on the software development side but it seems like a big business model change to me.
Isn't Hulu owned, or at least partially owned, by NBC?
It's not just some start up looking to get bought out by a bigger company.
I don't think TiVo could afford Hulu.
While I doubt there is any truth to it, it would be more likely for Hulu's larger owners like News corp to buy tivo.
One lousy company with a lousy product buying another lousy company with a lousy product? I suppose it would be interesting to see how quick they go out of business.
I don't think News corp will be doing much purchasing in the near future.
I think as part of the Comcast NBC merger Hulu was involved and Comcast now has stake in Hulu. I noticed recently that Comcast Xfinity uses Hulu for content for some shows, so I can't imagine them selling off that service. TiVo was to add Comcast video-on-demand support, but didn't Comcast recently dumped the Comcast/Tivo DVR efforts? Now Tivo offers Hulu plus, maybe Comcast will buy Tivo and all we will be able to watch is NBC and hulu on Tivo.
NBC/Universal owned 32% of Hulu and now Comcast owns NBC/Universal.
Fox owns 31%, Disney/AbC owns 27% and some equity firm owns 10%.
Except maybe one-way plane tickets to countries that don't have extradition treaties with the US and/or UK.
