    sweet home, al
dan, thanks for this suggestion - my previous codec pack was broken during the win10 creators update, so i uninstalled it and installed klite as you suggested, and it works perfectly!

Even with those errors in the second Code insert, pyTivo Desktop does fetch files from the Bolt in TS format (at around 25Mbps)... but, apparently, the firewall rules did not get made properly during the first install, and were skipped during the subsequent re-install.

So, what Private/Work network firewall rules do I need to manually make for pyTivo to work with the firewall enabled?

    Thanks.

That means something else is already running taking up the port pyTivo is trying to use. Check the task manager and make sure pyTivo isn't already running. If you ever used the old version of pyTivo you may have to look to make sure it's not installed as a service or set to auto-start somehow.

If it's some other program using the port you can change the port, but you'll have to manually edit the pytivo.conf file or figure out what's using the port, shut it down, start pyTivo, then change the port via the settings, then start back up whatever was using the port.

Well, I found pytivo.conf in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\pyTivo but it already had the port in it that I selected in its settings.
Still, pyTivo seems to be using another socket that other processes share, and I see no way to change that one.
    e.g.

In the meantime, it has 9 shows in the download queue. Not downloading any, though. Even disabling the firewall doesn't help, now.

I have it set to "Keep file with least number of errors" and up to 10 retries... how do I interpret these results:
    StarTalk - ''Penn and Teller'' (Recorded Aug 09, 2017, NGCHD-E) (^176_6).ts 1,579,114,460 bytes
    StarTalk - ''Penn and Teller'' (Recorded Aug 09, 2017, NGCHD-E) (2) (^129_0).ts 1,596,981,604 bytes
    StarTalk - ''Penn and Teller'' (Recorded Aug 09, 2017, NGCHD-E).ts 1,587,628,604 bytes
    StarTalk - ''Penn and Teller'' (Recorded Aug 09, 2017, NGCHD-E) (2).ts 1,625,764,216 bytes

Like, what does ^176_6 and ^129_0 mean?
There's currently 280GB free on the drive pvTivo's downloading to, if that matters.

It looks like maybe something is crashing. Can you post the log?

The ^##_# is showing you how many errors are in the file. If it doesn't have it then the file has no errors at all. If it does then the first part is the number of affected packets and the second part is the try that file was from. So ^176_6 means that it has 176 bad packets and this file is from the 6th retry.
