Why don't I see 1080P signal on cable channels?

Why is there no standalone 1080p signal setting (just a pass-through) on these minis? I have a 1080p OLED LG tv and annoyed why am I not able to get 1080p signal? I have fios and the bolt is showing 1080p in my other room. The fios quantum boxes are able to output 1080p.

Did I miss this shortcoming somewhere? I know the mini's can handle 1080p (from Amazon, netflix, hbogo).

The Minis don't have the capability of upconverting a signal to 1080p. I assume they just don't have enough processing power to make that work.

This is shocking! Why would anyone want to go from 1080p down to 1080i :( This might be a deal breaker for me to dump my quantum equipment for Tivo :(

I think you're overreacting a little. Your fancy 1080p TV probably does just as good of a job at deinterlacing 1080i as any cable box would.

your cable signal is only 1080i (maybe 720p) so it isn't like the mini is taking a 1080p signal and dropping it down to 1080i. it is just passing the 1080i cable signal to your tv. And as Tarheelblue32 mentioned, your tv will probably do a better job of up converting the 1080i to the native 1080p of the panel or the TiVo.

What do you mean by "down?" There are no 1080p channels on cable. The only 1080p is streaming or disc.
