I first saw her on Chelsea Lately and then a few roasts and her Comedy Central show. I'm a fan. :)

Then you've never heard her material. She's written great jokes for all of the roasts and her Comedy Central special Money Shot. Dane Cook, not so much.

I've seen her in the roasts as well as her standup. Greg Giraldo she isn't. Whitney wouldn't even make my top 10 FEMALE comics. Keep in mind ones individual talent does not correlate to commercial success. Many talented comics have failed at their own shows.

I like her when she's on Chelsea Lately. I am hoping the show is funny.

I've never seen her stand up but I think the previews for "Whitney" look horrible.

The previews for "Two Broke Girls" don't look that much better.

Nobody is Greg Giraldo. My favorite of all time. If you could name 10 female comics, not just 10 better than her, then you think too highly of female comics. I'd put maybe Lisa Lampanelli and Sarah Silverman above her, but Sarah has the same Dane Cook thing going on. She's a comedienne 10 and an everyday 7. Same as Cummings.

Just another "what won't she say?" comics. The previews for the show look like everything else... complete with the tired hipster boyfriend.

    But yes... hot.

Always thought of Greg as just meh. A little laugh here and there. And it seemed like alot of ppl thought so too. Then he dies and all of a sudden he is one of the greatest of all time. I don't get it.

    Huh?

    Kathy Griffin
    Margaret Cho
    Sarah Silverman
    Janeane Garafolo
    Amy Schumer
    Kathleen Madigan
    Lisa Lampanelli
    Aisha Tyler
    Maria Bamford
    Ellen DeGeneres

That's ten, so I'll stop there.

I don't get your comment. There are tons of female comedians.

    Margaret Cho? Really? Really??

Anyways I had time to kill before lunch so I googled up Greg Giraldo for stand up vids. The few I saw didn't make me laugh. BUT... what did make me crack up is on his Wiki page it says "best known for his appearances on Comedy Central's televised roast specials,". I was ROFLMAO cuz lets be honest.. that is the ONLY thing he is known for.

I'm not making any claims about her quality as a comic; just saying that she IS a female comic. Although some may argue even with that. ;)

I agree. Lots of hilarious ladies.

I'd like to add a few more:
    Iliza Shlesinger
    Rachel Feinstein
    Chelsea Handler
    Wanda Sykes

Others have listed most of my own list, but of course one of my favorites is still the grand dame Joan Rivers.

In the Hoff roast, LL killed over Cummings as she should as the premier current female insult comic so we agree on one thing. :)

Whitney may not be #1 in that group but she can sure as heck hold her own.

You go way back on that list, you forgot Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett and Joan Rivers.

You also have to strike Janeane Garafolo - Someone has to be funny at least once to be a comedienne. At least Margaret Cho was funny when she started out.

    No mention of Kristen Schaal?

Or a stand-up comedian I used to work with at her day job, Jackie Kashian? (She has a podcast called "The Dork Forest" that's reasonably amusing.)

I just watched the pilot (it is OnDemand on FIOS) and my wife and I enjoyed it. It is new and the cast looks like they will gel, had enough funny moments and my wife found the writing cute so we will watch it again. Liked Whitney in the nurses outfit, funny and amusing. Don't need an SP we will just use OnDemand and catch them all.
