Looks like a binder, not cards, but yeah. I assumed that they were just a backup to a teleprompter, but I couldn't see the teleprompter panels anywhere in any of the shots. Now I'm thinking he's just that practiced at giving a speech from notes.

Obama definitely has his timing down and it appears better writers than Cecily. It will be interesting to see how his successor plays (whomever it might be).

Whomever it is I just hope he/she helps the poor lady Obama talked about who is living out of her van in Iowa. If I was Obama I'd at least help her with a room in the White House, I just hope it doesn't take 4-8 years for her to get back on her feet and start making those milling again.:)

My autorecording wishlist for "white house correspondents" sure caught a lot!! 6 hours on cspan, a bunch on MSNBC and CNN, and more reruns on CSPAN.. The ~1 hour reruns on CSPAN seemed to be just Obama & the comedian. so I'll probably watch one of those (if it's not already a podcast)..

I think the general rule is that the worse you do in the room, the better you actually are, and vice versa.

Fully half the room are stiffs. It's going to be a tough crowd regardless of the material.

Exactly. The vast majority of people in that room would never go to a comedy club because they don't like to laugh. Put the best comedians in the world in that room (and they have) and they barely get a few chuckles. It's just not a good room for comedy, despite that being the primary reason for the event.
