Do they have a lifetime subscription?

    No, sure don't, Mike. Sorry.

If they did, was going to suggest you hold on to them, for a possible upgrade deal. As is, really only good for replacement parts. :(

Just a follow up. I had shelved this project with the intent of working on it over the winter. At this point however, I find I’ve lost interest in it. I’m most likely going to drop cable and just stream what few shows I watch these days.

And then there's me with (I think) 6 Series 1 units up in the attic, 2 with lifetime, 2 for parts, and 2 where I moved the lifetime to 2 new bolts when S1 went EoL. I was prepped to keep my S1s running for a couple more decades until Tivo closed the door on that option. I hate to send them to e-waste recycling, but I don't think there's anything else to do with 'em.

If you can't activate them (and you can't) and you didn't transfer the Lifetime from them when you could, I think e-waste recycling is the best thing for them.

I just cleaned out a closet in our guest room and ended up with a stack of 8 S2/S3 units. Some of them may have lifetime, some of them may be broken, I have no idea. The only one I know for sure still works is there is a Toshiba DVD unit in there and it has lifetime "TiVo Basic" service and was functional last time I used it. (I actually used it a couple years ago to convert a VHS of my Sister's wedding to a DVD for her. I still have a VCR too!)

    Completely understand.

Yes, I am keeping my remaining Series2 plugged in so that I have the option to transfer its lifetime service.

I transferred the two that were eligible (had been plugged in and phoning home). Had the other two with lifetime been eligible, I wouldn't have purchased more bolts to transfer (although I could have used the additional gift cards).

I loved my Toshiba Series 2 TiVo box with DVD recorder/player, with the free, included TiVo Basic. I don't know that I ever would have entered the TiVo world but for that box and package.
