There are always shows that I think are going to suck, but I check 'em out anyway. (Usually because there's nothing else on  ) Occasionally, I'm pleasantly surprised.

This year's MAJOR shock is Cavemen. It's not great, but it's not nearly as horrible as it should be.

I was tentative about Moonlight, but have quickly become a huge fan.

What shows have shocked you so far this season?

Angel. I never liked the Buffy/Angel dynamic on Buffy, but I loved Cordelia, so I checked out Angel's show. I ended up liking Angel better than Buffy.

"The Office". After loving the UK version, I was sure it would suck.

The Big Bang Theory. I thought it would totally suck, but it's threatening to become my favorite show.

The teasers for Chuck made it look like the worst show ever. I am actually a fan of it now!

Nothing in the descriptions for Life seemed promising. An ex-con released and pardoned for a crime he didn't committ sounded too much like Rockford Files, which is probably my favorite show of all time, and no way could a remake be any good. But I was wrong. Everything about the show is excellent: the writing, the casting, the acting, and the stories. I think it's easily the best new drama of the season. And it's nothing like Rockford Files.

For me it was not about good surprise as it was bad surprise. I had high hopes for the following shows but they just didn't suck me in for repeat viewing and definitely not a season pass:

    Bionic Woman
    Life
    Moonlight
    Pushing Daisies
    and many others.

But I have been watching Carpoolers, Cavemen, Big Bang. Few laughs in there.

I completely agree on this one.

I came in not expecting much, and gave it a try because of the LA Times review. Was completely blown away by the quality of the show. It's easily my favorite new series, and fast becoming my favorite show, period.

Carpoolers. I set a SP just to laugh at the inevitable carnage, and I'm actually really enjoying it.

For some reason, I expected Life to be great, and it is. It's my new favorite show.

I cannot decide which of the three is the biggest shock: Samantha Who, Life or Moonlight. All three are a lot better than I expected.

    Kid Nation and Samantha Who?

and I'll have to admit, with exception of the first episode, Cavemen hasn't been as bad as I expected on the couple of times I have managed to catch it. Still not worthy of a SP for me though.

LOVE Big Bang Theory also, but then again I expected to. :)

Agreed, I'm a geek, so I had every thought that it would be a one trick pony and not be able to keep it up, yet it keeps up the level of humor.

I thought there was NO WAY I would get into Pushing Daisies, but it has grown on me.
