I'm kind of desperate for new TV. There isn't really enough reality to keep me busy and my other favorite types of shows are the ones with season long story arcs.

I like Lost, 24, Jericho, Invasion, Heroes...those types of shows.

    What am I missing?

I like Sci-Fi, but I hate the crappy production values (or budgets) of the Sci-Fi stuff.

Any ideas? What are your favorites that aren't on my list?

    I would suggest Damages.

Eureka is fun. I'm looking forward to Fringe, which should be right in your wheelhouse.

Are you talking about currently airing somewhere or available on DVD, etc.?

That would probably make a big difference in the responses, though I'd be willing to bet that even if you specify "currently airing" there will still be a ton of responses recommending things that aren't.

I personally really enjoyed Wiseguy back in the day, but I've seen it so much it's just not the same anymore.

Either current or on DVD. I'm just looking for quality stuff.

    Thanks!

Go grab Babylon 5, then come join us in the threads. We're halfway through S2 now. :) Well, 3/4.

Doesn't The Shield have a long story arc? I don't watch the show but I've heard that it has plot and story elements that extend from season to season.

What about The Tudors? That definitely has story elements that go from episode to episode and season to season.

As already has been mentioned Bablyon 5 has a good story.

    Damages was mostly good.

I'm not sure what you mean by "story arc", but we just finished season 1 of Dexter. I really liked it!!

One of my all time favorites! I still have the occasional nightmare with Bob.

Forget the medical stuff and watch the story arc develop in the background!!

The Shield always has season-long story arcs, and some carry over from season to season. And it's awesome.

I haven't seen mention of Buffy and Angel so far. I don't know if you've watched them, but they are fantastic, and they have season-long stories as well.

Another vote for the Shield and Dexter. One that I haven't seen mentioned yet that I thought was very very good was the Wire. Each season started out a bit slow but once it got going it was great. I think there were 4 or 5 seasons and they are all related. I highly recommend it.

I think the word we're looking for here is "serialized". :)

The Shield has ongoing story arcs, but I view it more as things change. If a character goes through something in one episode, the character's not the same anymore, sometimes for the better, most times for the worse.

    Dexter (mentioned above) is fantastic.

Breaking Bad is very good, as well. It has finished its first season (on AMC, of all places). Renewed for a second season.

Neither of those are Sci-Fi, though. More along the lines of your original list, I'd highly recommend Supernatural (on the CW).

There's also Doctor Who and (to a lesser degree) Torchwood.

Jekyll was very good as well - it had a limited run on BBCA (8 or 9 episodes, but told a complete story).

Farscape is no longer on the air, but if you didn't watch it while it was on it is worth seeking out.

Also, there's Sarah Connor Chronicles, and I see BattleStar Galactica isn't on your list but it should be. The first season of Heroes was very good, too, though the second season is best forgotten.

The first season was great, but it went down every season from there.

I second the suggestion for Buffy & Angel.
