what does signal strength in diagnostics mean?

    It is unaffected by an extender no matter where I put it. They claim that I can't transfer from one tivo to another because it is too low (72). Attaching one tivo directly to the extender solves the problem

    Signal strength checks the over-the-air (antenna) signal strength.

    TiVo claims that I couldn't reliably transfer shows from one TV to another because the single strength is only 72. That's crazy. Connecting directly to an extender let's Metransfer perfectly and also let's me reliably watch shows on the other TiVo and even fast forward

    It's 72% because the AGC circuit makes it that number. If it was a cable box, the number would be 90%. If numbers are higher or lower it means the AGC can't work hard enough for it to raise or lower the signal.

    TiVo is stupid. AGC is a factor on 4 tuner Roamio and Bolts. Other boxes may not use it the same.
