I don't have my CableCards yet, so I may get my answer then, but thats not for two more weeks. (Darn you Charter)

I did a channel scan because according to the service menu of my SA8300, my local HD channels are Clear to Air. Well I haven't found them yet, but I did fine 2 channel 0's and about 25 other channels (mostly in the 80's and low 100's) that each have 6-10 digital subchannels.

As I said in another thread I don't think Charter has digital simulcast in my area, but I could be wrong I guess.

Local HD is always in the clear.

The other ones could be music channels, something like VOD channels, or digital simulcast.

They could also be channels from a digital tier. The cablecards will help you determine which.

IF the cable plant is technically and legally set up properly. The two "0" channels that OP gets indicate that it is probably not technically set up correctly. TWC SC cable actually used to encrypt some (but not all) OTA digital channels in Myrtle Beach.
