I'm pretty sure Serac and Jean Mi did not create Incite. Incite was Liam Sr's company from the start. According to Serac it had "been in the right place at the right time" to receive contracts to get some kind of monopoly on surveillance, and Liam used that money to fund the brothers' research and development efforts.

I don't see this as any different from talking to my friends about a show. Sometimes I learn things from them that I missed, or a different way to view a scene. Sometimes they learn things from me, such as when I was talking about the Greek mythology in the opening credits that they totally missed.

The difference here is the difference between discussing a show and learning a few things, and, WTF did I just watch? The former is just nuance, I saw this and that, you saw that and this, and discussing. The latter is, I don't get this whole thing, and I need someone from some blogger (or a friend) to explain it to me. I have the same complaint about movies that are like this too. I just don't like to watch something not know WTF I just watched.

An example of the former....I've been watching another HBO series, The Plot Against America. I know full well about what is going on, yet I've been enjoying the HBO Podcast about it, because it brings nuance to the characters, about the time and explains some things that are in the book that were changed in the show. I enjoy that. Not, having no clue what is going on and have to have it explained to me. But again, I enjoy historical fiction much better than SciFi and understand it much better. Again, YMMV.

Ironically, I gave up on Plot Against America. Too dull for me.

    Westworld all the way! ;)

I’m still watching, but yes, beyond dull.

And that's the differences in tastes. I find it not dull at all (and I complained early on that it moved slow with too much exposition, and that was all true), but the subject matter interests me a lot, both culturally and subject matter. As I said I'm a fan of historical fiction, much more so than SciFi. I liked it enough to actually by the book.

I'll stick with Westworld until the end, but honestly, I couldn't care less how it ends at this point.

I could not get into Man in the High Castle. And this reminds me of it. So thanks for the warnings.

I loved that show. Probably for the same reasons. But, it also has SciFi :)

I could overlook a lot of minor issues with MITHC simply because the set decoration folks did such an outstanding job selling the visuals of what a Nazi- or Japan-occupied North America would look like.

(And I'm often a sucker for alternative WW2 history stuff... I absolutely adored the book The Berlin Project, about what WW2 would have been like if the bomb had been developed earlier)

I also thought Inglourious Basterds was one of Tarantino's worse.

I don’t find the subject matter dull (in The Plot Against America), I find the acting and the storytelling slow, slow, and sloooow.
Better to read (or re-read) “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”.

Maybe it shouldn't be like this but I find using subtitles and the occasional freeze frame helps me to care about who is going to win at least a partial victory. Go Maeve.

In some shows there is a character whose main function is to explain to the audience what is going on. This show hasn't got such a character, it could have been Bernard except he has absolutely no idea what is going on :)

Call me stupid, but aside from the bit about the brothers and the big brain they created to predict the future, what does this have to do with Delos and Westworld? I probably just haven't been paying attention, but I'm confused as to why Delores is on a mission to destroy the big machine.

Or even how she knows about the big machine.

A quick answer is because the machine takes away from humans agency/free will in the same way the hosts in Westworld had their agency/free will denied and Dolores led a uprising against that.

But why would Dolores help humans? Is she helping them, has she got a darker plan?

I've been watching this show with subtitles from the beginning as there were too many characters and names to keep track of.

Well, if the machine takes away agency/free will, then by implication it is also responsible for creating Westworld through its control of the humans that run Delos.

I'm the same way. I suffer from information overload and can rarely remember any names of the characters unless I've seen the show through several seasons. I'm more likely to remember the actor's name than the character they play. Sometimes I have to look up the show on epguides.com to see who the cast members are and the names of the characters they play. I may have to look at the individual episodes to see who the guest stars are. If I still have a show recorded in Windows Media Center than I can check the cast members there, but they don't include the character names, just the actors. I find myself sitting through credits more often these days to refresh my memory by seeing the cast list.

Of the many things I missed - what was the knowing look and exchange when Delores stepped in front of Caleb to take on the people coming out of the car shooting?

And speaking of shooting, where did Delores come up with the “non standard-issue” super gun? I find myself watching Delores in her skintight fetishware rather closely, but missed this. She got something out of her motorcycle thingy, but I don’t think it could be as large as that gun.

Aaron Paul is so lucky to have had Breaking Bad give him star power, because that guy can’t act for sh—.

    Knowing look?

You mean when Caleb was shocked that she could be shot multiple times and not show any effects?
