Can I buy 1 of those premieres please? We are going with the multi room DVR for now. But, I love my Tivo! :(

BTW...I was going to buy a series 2 on Ebay and in 1 of my many calls to Tivo I found out that the series 1 thru 3 are obsolete and Tivo will not support new subscriptions for them.

Your best bet is to call back and tell them that you never received the email for the "Once in a Lifetime" promo and wanted to see if they would still honor it since you never got the email. See if they will set you up with either a Bolt or Roamio Pro with that promotion. It was a cost for the box (say the $175) plus a $99 fee to transfer the lifetime subscription from your old Working Series2 to the new box.

Then you'd want to add a TiVo Mini and -- just like that, you have a fully modern TiVo setup.

Worth another phone call for sure.

This is called customer service roulette. Coined here but not by me.

If you or someone you know is handy, buy a Roamio OTA which includes lifetime/all in, $399. Was on sale for $299 recently. You need to add a cable card bracket to make it work for cable. Not that hard to do. If you are really handy, upgrade to a 3TB drive. I did and I love the extra capacity.

I'd buy a used Premiere with Lifetime on eBay. The Series 2 has been completely obsolete for years, so a Premiere should be more than enough for the OP. The Netflix integration is pretty useless, you're better off using a Roku or FireTV or Chromecast for streaming.

I did that yesterday and they had me on hold for like 10 minutes and I thought it was going to work. But nope. The girl said I can do a monthly and then after a year see if maybe they will offer something then. Tivo used to have the best customer service. Not anymore.

The slowness of the Premiere vs every newer box makes it a bad purchase. People are still selling the Bolt on ebay with lifetime for about $500. You can get the Roamio Pro with lifetime for around $300-$400. The premiere would be a bad upgrade imo only because of it's slow menu on slow hardware.

For a user coming from an S2, the Premiere is fine. I have a Roamio and a Premiere, and the Premiere is a little bit slower, but it's not terrible. If you're a real power use, you'd want a Roamio or newer.

So you have two older TiVos, a lifetimed one that's still working and a by the month one that died?

What model is the lifetimed one?

What model is the one that died, how long ago did it die, and how long ago did you make the most recent monthly subscription payment?

They are both series 2 that I have had since 2003. It just died ( says powering up) 1 week ago. I am up to date on payment. I figure I have paid them about $1200.00 in monthly payments since 2003.

You could probably buy a used S2 with lifetime service on ebay for $40 - $60 and just plug all the cables from the $6.95 tivo into the lifetime tivo and rerun guided setup. Then you could cancel your $6.95 subscription and it would pay for itself in 6 months.

I find the Roamio Pro better over all so far over the Bolt+ and Premiere XL4. Bolt+ is new to me but video pixelates and Bolt+ hangs / slows on channel changes.
