I am slowing getting sold on the Roku tv. A smart tv that is smart enough to not let all the smarty bit get in the way when not wanted. Honestly I would never use the the built in roku unless I want to stream 4K. Come on prime day deals.

I have a small Sharp Roku TV. It has very good sound and a nice picture. It better be nice because there are virtually no adjustments. I never use CEC and it has only a TiVo connected plus some clear QAM cable. I don't get that "always powers on to TiVo" thing. Every TV I have will power up just where I powered it off. Weirdest part is no Ethernet, just WiFi. But that is very good, and it's only a few feet from my router. It was super cheap.

I just ordered two X900F in the 75" size. I usually get Samsung TVs, and have a couple of their 75". Good TVs, slim bezel, nice pic. But I'm moving and am completely redoing my AV setup, and figure these will be my last TVs for some time, so I went with the X900f to future-proof (at least as much as you can these days). 4K, HDR, yada yada. I'm pairing them with Sonos Playbars.

Thanks for sharing this. I've been following the X900F thread in the AVSforum, and learned about Samba there. Will be the first thing I kill.

My first LED/HD TV was a Sony Bravia 40XBR3 model, maybe around 2006, for $3K+. Still use it as a spare TV in my office area! And still has a great pic. But I switched to Samsung after that, with no complaints. But yeah, I looked at the pic of the X900F, and wow, it is phenomenal.

Well prime day has come and gone. I did not find a deal that I had hoped for. Nothing Amazon had as a prime day 55 inch tv deal was very good. Only the Sony x720e for $478.00. A good price but it got poor reviews for inconsistent black and back light. Also not a good contrast ratio. Ratings.com was only recomending it for bright rooms in that range of sets. So for now I got nothing. The tcl 6 series was not on sale lower than 599 so im going to watch some more sales.

I found an item on Amazon, had a deal on a 128gb mSD card, but the deal was for $34, I had another seller for $33.

I did get a 48 pack of AAA batteries for $8. And the entire series of the original Star Trek on blue ray for 34 dollars. I always wanted it on dvd. Since its BD im going to rip it on my pc and load it in to plex.

Overall prime day was under whelming

I wouldn't bother with that, as Netflix has all the series, movies.

True they do have it but there a chance they may someday not have it. It has happened to a few other shows before.

I bought a TCL 55” 4K UHD smart tv for $399.00 at Best Buy and I love it. The picture quality is exceptional and it has a built-in Roku. With my Harmony, I am using both the Roku and my TiVo Roamio for all of my streaming.

Great kudos for TCL (made in China) in this thread. Sad that such products can't be made at a competitive price in the USA.

Well today me and Shawn went to best buy and I looked and looked with him. I ended up with a new 55" tv but not. Tcl .We seen a Hisence H9e plus . Compared to the TCL R615 the
Bolt is not offered with a lifetime subscription service yet.

Well today me and Shawn went shopping. Went to best buy to look again at Tv's. We looked and looked, I think I drove the sales people nuts a little but they were good regardless. I ended up coming home with a new Tv. Not a TCL. In comparing the r615 to several models lower and mid price we ended up down to the r615 by TCL and Hisense H9e plus. The Hisense had a better viewing angle, and120Hz native panel vs 60hz native. Both had wide color gamut Dolby vision, hdr10 and local dimming. The Hisense looked as good as an LG costing 850 and a Samsung that went for 899 yet was only $699 so it was the winner. The smart platform is Android tv. While Roku is a little nicer I am very used to the Android OS on tablets and phones so it's not so bad.

It seems to upscale the TiVo well, it looks great, very sharp images with good blacks. I only tried some nature videos on YouTube in 4K they look outstanding.

If you go in to the Roku app on a smartphone and connect to the TV, you can change some advanced picture settings in there (my TCL does this, at least). ...if you're in to that sort of thing. I'm using the presets on mine.

The power on behavior is an option in the menus, I think it defaults to "last thing that was on" but you can change it to always go back to a specific input, which I like. Purely a matter of preference.
