Oh, deeply problematic, yes. Sadly, the boy has come to expect that in watching vintage television. We started watching Doogie Howser and two completely different significant plot points within the first three episodes basically hinged on "Isn't statutory rape hilarious?" and then third episode comes into all kinds of ethics/consent issues when Doogie has to perform emergency surgery on his girlfriend (without her parent's consent for a variety of reasons). It's...painful.

The problematic aspects of IDoJ were part of what got us talking about a reboot and what could be done RIGHT instead of, well, horrifically wrong.

They could reverse it, call it "I Dream of Genie" and have the woman be the astronaut and have a man "Genie" who does HER bidding.

I want to speculate about WandaVision for a moment. I know we all are thinking that she is hallucinating about all this TV family series.

But the question remains: Where did she get exposed to 60's American TV shows? AFAIK, she grew up in an Eastern European country. Did she get those broadcasts as a kid? Or did she just watch a lot of TV while training for the Avengers (between Age of Ultron and Civil War?

I'm guessing she and her brother learned English watching old American reruns in Sokovia. Which was a big motivation for their later participation in anti-American protests, lol. Also their joining up with Hydra and then Ultron. Or not.

This was one possibility we discussed. We also talked a lot about how she calls him “Master” but constantly resists him in subversive ways. There’s a ton of gender studies analysis that can be done in that show...

It’s actually not uncommon for struggling nations that may have a very limited number of stations (and often state-sponsored at that) to pick up old “wholesome” US television for cheap and air it to fill the time because their internal production facilities are limited. Heck...it’s not uncommon for developed nations to air a lot of US television. When we lived in London we had a four-hour daily block of Friends reruns plus a weekly airing on the British networks of the previous season plus a weekly satellite airing of the most recently released US episode. This was in the late 90s.

I have reason to believe it will be 3am eastern tonight. Like all streaming shows, it's impossible to know for sure until it happens. ;)

I'm betting @kdmorse is right: 12:01 AM US Pacific, 3:01 AM US Eastern. But the "Legends" shorts are already there:

Since there is likely to be an unfolding mystery, I'm thinking we probably want individual Episode threads for this show. Yes, they may be low traffic, but I still vote that that's still the best approach.

I'd go start one right now, except no listings have an episode title yet. Unless "TBA" is literally the title, which isn't out of the question given the show. (I probably won't be able to stay up and watch it this evening anyway). So, whomever does and wants to talk about it, I say go make an Episode 1 thread after it airs...

(One mans opinion, offer void on alternate tuesdays, post not valid if wet).

What is the required Marvel viewing for this series?

I've seen the last two Avengers movies, but I don't think I'd seen these two characters before that. Which movies do I need to watch? :)

They were introduced in Avengers Age of Ultron and then appeared in Captain America Civil War before the last 2 Avengers movies.

I would say to get Wanda and Vision's full storyline:

Post credits scene for Captain America - the Winter Soldier. (Youtube)
    Avengers: Age of Ultron
    Captain America - Civil War
    Avengers - Infinity War
Avengers - Endgame would be optional.

Of course the more general MCU knowledge, the better.

On the otherhand, I have only watched Ultron, maybe Civil War, I don't remember, and only watched Ulton to get an intro to the two characters, and I loved the first two episodes. I think you can watch this without needing much knowledge. You can watch the Marvel Legends intros on Disney+ and get the gist if you don't want to sit through those movies. At least for the first two episodes, I think, based on folks thoughts in the series thread, that those of us who only have a passing knowledge of the MCU universe seemed to enjoy it better. Sometimes having TOO much knowledge makes you start to nit pick every little thing.
