I was pretty disappointed with the "reveal" of the walkers stuck in the mud. When the young guy came in and told Hershel "it happened again" and Hershel immediately went to find Rick I was really hoping for something interesting. We established in the pilot that some walkers retain a rote routine based on their life. I was hoping Hershel was going to show Rick that some walkers exhibit advanced functionality. Would have made for more interesting reasoning behind Hershel keeping the walkers in the barn.

I think that scene may have been the appropriate setup for Sophia. They supposedly found her doll in the river. By doing this they explained how she might have been found and put in the barn. Of course they never explained how they got them in the barn without letting the rest out.

At this point, who exactly is going to FORCE them to leave?

I know lots of folks were disappointed with this season. I've enjoyed every episode thus far. This season may not have been as exciting as last year, but I still look forward to a new episode each week and I can't wait for the second half of season 2 in February.

My favorite part of the episode was when Shane and Rick are talking about being prego and Shane congrats Rick and rick says "and to you".

I'm going to have to watch that scene again. I don't recall Rick saying that.

I imagine they get one person to go to the other side of the barn and make some noise to get all the walkers over there and then shove the new one in from the walker-free side.

I would think cow coralling (spelling?) equipment would also be great for walkers

That couldn't have happen with Sophia. That would mean someone else also knew about a child Walker being put in the barn. The knowledge that there was a child Walker was in the barn was supposed to have died with Otis.

I can believe that Otis had no trouble controlling Sophia while unlocking the barn door all by himself. Sophia was tiny compared to Otis. But how was he able to control Sophia and keep the Walker horde from over running him when he opened the door to put Sophia in the barn? As soon as Otis began unlocking the barn door, the Walkers inside would have heard him and been waiting on the other side of the door.

I wouldn't try it. If I was Otis, I would have given a shout out for some help with putting a Walker into the Barn.

I think Shane pretty much alluded to the same thing.

Possibly he takes them up via pulley to the second floor Glenn was on and drops them down.

What an ending to that arc. I do wish we got to know Sophia more as others stated so her death would have had a larger impact but still that last scene just made me want to skip on over to Feb.

Hershel can't force them to leave but he can certainly put a bullet in Shane's head, which I hope he does the first time Shane's not looking.

I can understand a lot of the surrounding farms being overrun with walkers but Maggie said the rest were burned out. Were the walkers toasting marshmallows or reenacting Sherman's march to the sea or something?

Maybe they'll give T-Dog something to do next half season.

I didn't get what Dale thought he was doing with the guns. It's one thing not to have them in your hands all the time, and another thing to have to go out to the woods to get one--especially if only 1 guy knows where they are. I figured the walkers were going to escape then and they would only have 1 or 2 guns.

I thought Shane shooting the walker in all his vital organs and then pointing out that he didn't die was a pretty good point. ;)

Did the girl say that all the other farms in the area are overrun? How does she know that?

    Can't wait till Feb. :(

Actually if you watch it again it was exactly two minutes from when she stepped out to when she was shot. Sure some of it was in slow motion for effect but it was definitely over a minutes. Not that this changes anything but just wanted to point out it was more than 15 seconds.
