Using pytivo to upload Playon recorded files. Having issue during Fast Forward. Soon as I start to skip forward it will start replaying the parts of the video I just watched. Then if you skip up to where you think the commercials over it will start playing well beyond that point in the video. Also the time shown by the tivo of the file time length is about double of the actual file length. Any ideas as to what the issue could be. Is there a program similar to PyTivo I could try to serve up my files?

Most likely some quirk of your Playon files. I would run them through VideoReDo's Quick Stream Fix.

Also use MediaInfo (text view) or VideoReDo (control-L) to get video properties and post them here. Someone may be able to spot a parameter that causes the problem.

Also try a different version of ffmpeg with pyTivo. Scan the pyTivo thread here and/or the pyTivo forum for more info about this.

What's an example program that exhibits this problem? I have PlayOn but haven't used it lately. I might try this to see if I have the same problem -- after I dust off my copy of PlayOn. I've done this before without seeing these problems.

    Plex is another option.

You can also try forcing them to be (more) reencoded. By default, pyTivo goes out of its way to avoid reencoding, in the name of PQ and fast transfers. But sometimes, the TiVo can't digest the video.

Edit the metadata file for the bad recording, and add a line like so:

    vCodec: foo

What was your source for recording this via PlayOn? The non-HD resolution (720x404) puzzles me a little. Are you not running PlayOn in HD mode? My PlayOn recordings are always 1280x720 -- or were the last time I did one, quite a while back.

I assume you do not have VideoReDo. You can download and install it and get a 15-day free-trial, fully functional, by just selecting that item in the menu system. You need the TV Suite 5 version to handle .mp4 H.264 files such as what playOn records. Then load the file and select Quick Stream Fix. This will run very fast. Here is the link to get VRD:
