I have a WD 3.0TB WD30EZRS drive I now longer use in my PC. It is not a AV drive, but it is a WD Caviar Green drive.

    1) Any idea if that is ok to use in the Roamio OTA?

    2) Do I need to reformat it before I put it in? It currently is formatted to NTFS and probably has a few files on it.

    Thanks much.

It should work ok, the Tivo will reformat it, but it wouldn't hurt to delete all the partitions on it.

The main difference between a PC drive and an AV/surveillance drive is that the latter is designed to run 24/7 where a PC drive "sleeps" and stops spinning when you're away from the PC. That means the PC drive is likely to fail sooner when used in a DVR.
