I've sold a few things on eBay, but you're right -- the fee structure really takes away a huge portion of the sale price. I doubt I'll ever use eBay again.

Generally ebay is my last resort. Even Amazon has a better fee structure if it's something you're allowed to sell. But I usually go the FB marketplace, CL, Letgo route first. With tivo, it seems like appealing to a broader market will net you more money. And so many lowballers you have to deal with when selling locally not to mention people that disappear and don't show then don't respond. There is no perfect selling venue these days.

The conversation very much got into "where the market is headed" when it veered into questions of why the only model of OTA DVR that TiVo now offers is a less expensive 2-tuner model. If you're not interested in my posts, just ignore them.

Free live OTA TV can be "augmented" with an ability to watch that content on-demand. A relatively small number of folks do that with an OTA DVR. A much larger number of folks do that with subscriptions to Hulu and/or CBS All Access, along with the free apps from The CW and PBS.

I sold my Tivo system on EBay.

Wonder if the customer took the insides of the Tivo and put them into a new housing. And then smashed the old housing.

I would have spent another $20 to have it shipped back. See if the insides are the same if there is any way to tell. Sometimes I've marked circuit boards to make sure I'm getting the same thing back in case of a return. So far that's just proven that I'm paranoid tho. lol.

Would love to see a poll of DVR antenna users that actually pay for a service to watch the OTA they get for free.

And so sorry... I totally missed your added qualifiers to the argument. So now it's "free live OTA" watchers. Got it. Because they have relevance in a Tivo forum why? This is a Tivo forum, right? One where people use a dvr to timeshift watch their live channels. Set up season passes and all to watch their programs at a later date to alleviate needing other services to watch said content and avoid paying for cable and their dvr and multi room fees.

But now we're adding the qualifier of people watching "live OTA" who will augment with paid services to watch the same OTA they get for free.

    I got it now.
