I have an idea to share a single S3 TiVo between adjacent bedrooms and would like to have dualing slide remotes instead of having to share one slide remote between both bedrooms or have the slide in one and the original in the other. It is my preference to not have to use the original IR remote at all. For one thing, it doesn't have the all important slide-out keyboard. For another, there's no direct line of sight for the IR remote to work with the TiVo and I already have other UHF IR repeaters in use with other TiVos in the same house. Hardwiring an IR repeater is off the menu as well.

I'm told through a TiVo support chat that two slides on one S3 is possible, but I'm not told how it's possible (because it's unsupported). Do I simply plug both bluetooth dongles into the one TiVo and I'm good to go, or is there some hacking involved? Has anyone tried this? (I'm also told there's no harm in trying that.)

Since the remote pairs itself to the dongle, I suppose plugging two dongles into the S3 would work. Not a problem unless you're using a wireless network adapter.

Unless things have changed, two slide remotes on one Tivo is not possible.

I believe the Tivo only recognizes one dongle. I suppose that could be changed with a software update, but I haven't read any evidence of that.

I doubt Tivo would issue an update for that unless a lot of people wanted to do that though especially on the HD/series 3HD boxes, the premiere *maybe* once the freezing/slow menu issue gets relatively under control...

Like the OP, I want to have two Tivo Slides controlling the same Tivo. I have a tuning adapter, so I don't have both USB ports free.

I purchased the officially supported USB hub for my Tivo, but when I plug one of the dongles into it, it stops controlling the Tivo. (I can see from the lights that it is receiving signal from the remote, but nothing happens on the Tivo.)

I also tried reseting one of the remotes and forcing it to pair with the other dongle. While this is successful, the first remote then no longer works.

I am currently using one of the remotes in IR mode, but then the keyboard doesn't work. Not a great solution, and certainly not what I paid the $$ for for the second slide.

There is a thread at Tivo.com that implies that there is a unsupported way to do this, but I can't figure it out. (I can't post a direct link to that thread, as I haven't posted enough here, but the title is "two TiVo slide remotes connected to one S3 TiVo possible?").

    Has anyone solved this problem?

I'm surprised that no one has tried pairing two slide remotes with one Tivo yet.
I would do it if I had a slide remote to begin with, I'm not going to buy two just for an experiment.
One of you guys that want this functionality and already have a slide remote needs to be the guinea pig. :p
Just buy another slide remote and try. Post results/problems in this thread and collectively we can give feedback/suggestions.
If it doesn't work, return the remote for a refund. :)

I am also looking to do this. One will pair, but as soon as it does, the other unpairs.

What about plugging in two of the receivers? One from each remote.

Sopranoman, any luck? I have two slide remotes and am using the two dongles that came with them, and had them both working at one point. I've beet trying to find the trick again but no luck so far. Both USB dongles are plugged into the TIVO S3 HD through an extension USB wires or no extension wire and I get the same result. The first remote I pair works fine, the second is appears to pair to the second dongle (5 blinks) but when I press a key on the remote the light on the remote is blue (indicating Bluetooth transmit) but the dongle just starts blinking and it the TIVO doesn't respond.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

They said you can not have 2 hooked up at same time. I am using 2, one w/ BT and the other is not.
