I really liked this season up until this episode. This was such a bad, stupid, manipulative, setting-up-next-season episode that I might overall dislike this season overall as a result. What a steaming pile of horse manure this episode was. I can't explain the reasoning behind it except to hypothesize that they needed to reduce the budget and one easy way to do that was to lay off a bunch of people.

This is not the way I see it at all I think the cast had just expanded to have way too many different characters and gotten too large and confusing and they just used this episode as a way to downsize back to just the core group of characters and hopefully minus Tara for she needed to go.

Wasn't Lafayette sleeping upstairs at Sookie's house? I assume he'll be the first one to respond to the help call next season.

But yeah, I think Tara is dead.

Before I watched the episode last night, I was spoiled in this way: "Major cast culling in the True Blood Finale." So I knew someone major ended up dead. Then I watched the beginning where Tara and Sookie are hoping they sit on a porch together with their grandkids one day, and I knew it was her.

As for killing warewolves, Sam went in to kill whats-his-name with a gun. Did it have silver bullets in it? And Alcide killed him by choking him out. Sookie shot Debbie in the neck. I think she's dead.

I also got a gay vibe from the Scott Foley character. I think he was pretty surprised, and angry, to see that Terry was married.

Well, no matter what their reasoning, it was an utterly abysmal way to do it and this was perhaps the worst episode in the history of the entire series for me.

Thinking about it; Sam Merlotte, Arlene, and Terry were all near the same area.
Sam sees a Werewolf (I think it was a wolf, might have been a wereSomething.Else)
Arlene sees her dead ex boyfriend (with fake accent)
Terry sees a (dead?) war buddy.

Maybe they're not seeing ghosts, but they're seeing someone they were have strong emotions about that has died and they're seeing them the way they remember or fear them as.

EW has more from Rutina Wesley. (Same "spoilers" although they aren't really spoilers imho, it's a lot of "I don't know what's going to happen.").

Well, we know for a fact that
she's going to be back next season.
So I'd say that counts as a spoiler!

    My guess is:

She will only be back as a ghost via Lafayette.

I disagree completely that it is a spoiler.

But I realize that the technical rules of the forum would call it a "spoiler" and some people may not want to know.

I'd say that the actress would be back next season...in the very least as a dead body bleeding out on Sookie's floor in episode 1.

The character could be back in a bigger way through Lafayette...assuming she dies.

Have they ever had a major character turned into a vampire on the show? My guess would be that Tara is too far gone for Bill or Eric to save her, but they can turn her...annnd do

Not sure if you count Jessica as a major character before she was turned. Or Steve Newlin. :)

I don't remember Jessica even appearing as a character before she was turned.

Didn't Jessica get all of 5 minutes screen time -- I do remember her shrieking -- before the vamps forced Bill to turn her?? I thought the first time she appeared on the show was that scene. Am I remembering wrong?

I think she first popped up at Bill's trial. Jessica was the sacrificial victim that Bill was told he had to turn. Maybe there was a short flashback to her earlier life at some point. But I agree that it could not have been more than a few minutes of pre-vamp Jessica.

So it looks like Newlin will be the first major character who had significant screen time pre- and post-vamp. Well, unless he is not really a vamp or gets the true death quickly next season....

So only a vamp show? How would Sookie fit in??

The show is based on a series of books where Sookie is the main character and in each book more and more supernatural stuff appears..

If they follow the books for his storyline
    it might not be over...

Again, if they follow the books somewhat
    she won't be dead...

And again, if they follow the books in this regard
    she is a goner...

As far as silver bullets go, maybe that's just when they are in wolf form. A wolf probably takes more bullets to kill than a woman, and if it's a werewolf it takes a silver bullet, but she was just a woman then, so bye bye....

Any time the writers bring out Halloween, my immediate reaction is that nothing that is about to take place is real...and I had that feeling during the entire episode.

I'm hopefull that debbie and tara and even Jesus are dead, but I have serious doubts.
