That's because Amazon Unbox is not ready to be delivered. This update put the building blocks in place so we can roll it when the time comes.

Well, my software still says version 8.1 and my status says "succeeded" so I guess I haven't gotten the upgrade yet. I guess I still have a little longer to wait.

Be patient, it's coming. Only 1 of my 3 boxes was upgraded yesterday. Ironically, even though the glitch only effects 540 boxes, my 140 box got the upgrade and my 540 boxes are still waiting. Oh well...technology.

Just as a follow-up, since I was one of the early posters to this thread, I got my update and transfer now works.
At least I have to give credit to TiVo for that. :)

Same problem, transfer cuts at channel change (about 2 seconds in). Motorola box, serial, Cox cable. TiVo tech support confirmed it's the channel change causing the drop, engineers are 'working on it'. My temp solution is to record a 5 minute snip on the same channel just before the show I plan to xfer. Then there is no channel change hence not signal drop. Of course if I'm also recording a show prior to the one I want to xfer then I'm SOL.

I finally got the update... HOWEVER .. it now no longer connects using WPA-PSK ... I have disabled everything and transferred a TV show... I add WPA-PSK back to the network and TivoToGo cannot see my Tivo.
    I have a Tivo wireless G adapter ..
    It doesn't make sense...

    ===After Software Update===
    With WPA-PSK enabled:
    -------Tivo connects to the Network
-------TivoToGo (TivoPlayList) does NOT connect to Tivo
    Without WPA-PSK:
    -------Tivo connects to the Network
-------TivoToGo (TivoPlayList) DOES connect and Transfer

    ===Before Software Update====
    With WPA-PSK enabled:
    -------Tivo connects to the Network
-------TivoToGo (TivoPlayList) DOES connect to Tivo and Transfer stopped at 1mb

Well, I have finally got the 8.1a update on both of my tivos. I can transfer form my tivos to my computer and my computer sees them just fine. However, both of my tivos still dont see each other and I cant transfer between them. Anyone having this problem? Anyone have any ideas? My network worked just fine before the infamous update that is going to destroy tivos reputation...

Have you tried restarting both tivos? If that doesn't work, maybe try restarting the router.

Try having them both connect to the service. That might sync them up again. If that doesn't work, you might want to start a new thread.

Manually enter your SSID. That should get things working.

Hello all, I have a problem that has been bugging me for a while now. I have Tivo Desktop 2.3a running on Server2003. I also have 3 silver Series2 Tivos connected to my network with version 8.1a-01-2-540 software. I use Linksys USB200M wired Ethernet adapters. I have several programs set to autotransfer.

Frequently I will login to the computer and find Tivo Desktop "Not Responding". This seems to happen during or after a transfer (auto or manual). It only happens some of the time. I've gone weeks without any problems, only to have Tivo Desktop lock up several times in a row.

I have had this problem on and off for a few months. It only locked rarely when running Tivo Desktop 2.2. I really like the autotransfer though, and would hate to have to give that up.

The 8.1a update did NOT fix my transfer problems from the Tivo to my computer. My system specifications are as follows:

    Make/ model of DVR: Tivo Series 2 rev.4 (TCD540040)
Make/ model of network adapter: Netgear Wireless USB adapter WG111 (purchased from Tivo)
    Tivo OS: 8.1a-01-2-540
HD: Variable up to 287 hrs.
PC OS: Windows XP SP2 (with current patches)
    Tivo Desktop: 2.4.257.475 Preview
    Cable box: Motorolla
    Cable box control: via serial
    Cable provider: Charter
    Cable linup: Digital cable
    Wireless Router: Linksys WRT54GL

I can't get any programs to transfer. A 1/2 hr program may get to 50-95% transferred and hang. The Tivo then looses network connectivity. This requires a Tivo restart.

My setup did work with Tivo OS 7.x, ,but doesn't work after upgrading to 8.x. I upgraded to the Tivo Desktop 2.4.257.475 Preview before finding this thread. I thought it may fix my problem.

    Any ideas?

Does anyone know if I were to buy the TivoDesktop Plus software if I will be able to transfer the software license to a new computer (that I have yet to purchase)? That's what's holding me back right now from buying the upgraded version, because I don't want to have to buy it twice once I finally get a new computer.

Thank you for your suggestions. After a series of unplugging, resetting and restarting both of my tivos, I was able to get both my tivos talking agian with each other and the computer. Everything has been work fine so far until I went to go transfer a show last night from 1 tivo to the other. I went into now playing and my other tivo wasnt there. I then went to see if my network connection was up and it said it was connected at 80% but my last attempt at connecting to the service had failed. So I went to test my connection and everything froze up. So I unplugged my tivo and it restarted when I plugged it back in. Then I went to connect to the network and it said it couldnt find it. Any suggestions? My other tivo was still conected to the network and everything was fine on that end. Is anyone else still having problems with their network after the update?

I am having, or rather I was having the same problems as you (TiVos intermittently not showing on my Now Playing list). It turned out to be a problem with my router. Have you considered that possibility? Are your TiVos wired or do you use a wireless adapter? If it's the latter, are there any other wireless devices, such as a laptop, that are having intermittent connection problems?
