I know TW is on Sci-fi in sept but I saw a trailer last night on HDNet saying it would be playing there in the fall, No commercials and uncut!!

    Pretty good I think

    Why the rolleyes then?

If that's true, I'm very happy! I never used BT to get any of the BBC Series 1 eps, so I'll be VERY happy to see it on HDNet!

On the AVS forum Mark Cuban is confirming this is going to happen, in HD and uncut in September.

I suppose this will be season 1 on HDNet. SciFi will be starting S2.

Isn't BBC America also showing Torchwood? Not sure what season though ...

Regardless, I'll take the uncut-HD version, thank you very much. :)

For those interested season two of Torchwood is supposed to begin January 2008 (in the UK).

I might go back and watch season one again, the BT copies were good....but not HD.

AFAIK, Season 1 of Torchwood hasn't be broadcast for the general US audience yet. That's coming this Fall.

I thought that BBCA was showing TW in sept.

At least that's what their trailers say.

Yea, I'm not sure who's said it's airing on Scifi. I heard BBC America got it.

No it hasn't been broadcast in the US, but do yourself a favor and track down the BBC broadcasts, they are far superior in picture quality than anything from BBC America or Sci-Fi. They are also in wide-screen and edited without commercials. Dr Who and Jekyll are the same, letterboxed and no tags or crap on them. I convert the Divx files to MP4 and watch on Apple TV, great stuff.

Of course this is moot if you have HDNet. :)

This is becoming an issue for us, and we're actually moving towards what you suggest. We canceled HBO and SHO this summer, and subscribed to Netflix, from which we've rented a lot of movies and Season Six Part One of the Sopranos. This leaves us with a backlog of HBO and SHO offers that we've "missed". We'll catch up with them on DVD (since they all seem to make it to DVD), and that will, in turn, bump all the muddy Sci-Fi, USA, and F/X programming that we normally would have watched this Fall and Winter. That, hopefully will lead to us watching those shows on DVD.

BBC America stuff, we'll probably watch as-is, though. Unless it is something like Doctor Who or Torchwood, we cannot be sure it'll make it to DVD, eh?

I don't get it. So, BBCA and HDNET are both going to show them in September?

Even those downloaded from full HD sources & still in HD resolution?

I haven't seen any to DL that are in full HD downloads. They're usually downsampled to fit on a Video-CD, so they're not quite HD resolution.

I can tell a difference on my 1080i set between a full HD show and one I've Dled that will fit on a VideoCD.
