Yeah, as soon as he said he was going to cook the fish directly on the grill AFTER SEEING THE OTHERS FAIL, I knew he was doomed! It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't waited and then repeated their mistake.

It would have been hard to keep him in after that.

I'm still cheering Shirley on, but either would make a good winner now.

Bummer, I was Team Sheldon all the way. I like Brooke and Shirley well enough. I'm not really a big fan of bringing eliminated contestants back on any competition show, so I'll root for Shirley to win.

I had hoped they'd keep Sheldon anyway, as they said his food was overall tastier. But I guess they preferred Brooke's blander but well prepared meal better.

I think he means the "Last Chance Kitchen" thing

I'm actually OK with it. I mean, Brooke did WIN her way back in.

    Yup, sorry. You're right.

She won her way back in because she was eliminated at the right time. She cooked a bad meal and got a chance to come back. Sheldon won't get that chance. Why does she get a 2nd chance because she was quicker to cook a bad meal?

I do agree with this. At 4 ok, at 3, let them cook as normal.

    I was rooting for Sheldon.

I, too, was rooting for Sheldon. Now I guess I'm rooting for Brooke because I just don't like Shirley. I find myself having to FF through her ramblings so that I don't end up killing the tv.

It's a good point about him not having that same opportunity to win his way back in. I guess the patent unfairness of it is why I was never a fan of the whole LCK thing. The only time it seemed to work for the good was in the season when Kristin got screwed over and ended up eliminated, then she was able to get back into the competition. She was the best.

But I have always been offended when people got fairly eliminated and it never seemed right that they could come back and join those who had fairly worked their way through the competition.

I'd be okay with LCK if it was only done early in the game. Like, take the first 6 chefs that were eliminated and let them all cook 1 challenge. The winner comes back in week 7. After that, you lose and you're done.

Finale was ok. Not surprised to see Brooke win, as they seemed to want her to win. Also watched WWHL that evening, and was happy to see Sheldon win favorite chef. It does seem as if the judges all like Sheldon and his cooking more; he just makes some mistakes during the competition that hurt him, but that in is restaurant, he is likely the better chef.

    I'm happy with the outcome.

We have Blue Apron and one of the upcoming meals was advertised as "the winning dish on Top Chef." So as we were watching we were guessing which main course would most easily translate to a home cook-able meal.

Hm... that doesn't look all that similar to Brooke's pork belly dish, but I'd be curious to see if it still is tasty. My wife commented while she was making it that she still doesn't like pork belly, so I bet she'd prefer this take on the dish.

Enjoyed the finale and was happy to see Brooke win. Nothing against Shirley. They were both excellent chef's. I hope Sheldon does well as a result of all this publicity. He seems like a good guy and is clearly an excellent chef.

Personally, I wouldn't mind trying one of Sheldon's or Shirley's restaurants. Brooke too, but I'd rank her third (of this season's contestants)

I'm pretty sure I went to Star Noodle when he was the executive chef there. It was really delicious. Definitely want to try his new place on Maui if we ever manage to go back.

I keep meaning to get to 28 (Shirley's restaurant) for dinner one night. I drive past it frequently and never remember to call for reservations.

I also want to try Brooke's restaurants sometime soon. But their in L.A. and I don't get there enough.
