And you have to be registered, logged in, and have a credit card on file.
Ok, what I see is the 'Amazon Customers Vote' box towards the top right corner of their main amazon page. I click on that, and on the following page, I click upon the "get started" button, which takes me to a voting page. Nothing seems to happen when I'm attempting to click all over the page, so I click upon "sign in' link on that same page, in case that is the issue.
When I do that, it takes me to the page where I click upon the 'sign in using our secure server', with my saved data already presented there so I don't have to manually fill that in.
Then it jumps to another page where I must click upon the 'continue shopping' button. This finally takes me back to the contest page again. I jump forward to a page where the voting period hasn't already expired. Again, I'm trying to click all over that page, and nothing really seems to happen (in terms of my attempting to register a vote). I see no percentages of which item is in the voting lead either. I see no radio-like buttons or vote buttons anywhere on the page.
I have a credit card on file.
I buy things on amazon with a credit card. Just last week, in fact.
I'm logged in.
Yet, nothing works, nothing seems to make sense. Sorry dswallow, I fail how to see how there is anything "definitely really clear" about this voting process. What browser are you guys using? I'm on Firefox. I hate when I can't figure things out when it's apparently obvious to everyone else! GRRRR!!!!
I created another account and logged into it to show this to you:
If you're logged in, it'll tell you up top ("Hello X X. We have recommendations for you..."), so make sure that's there. Then to the left of each selection is a radio button, and below that group of 3 items will is the "Vote in Round 4" button.
THANK YOU! dswallow for taking the time to do that for me.
However, I don't see what your screen displays. I'm never allowed me to sign in for the contest. On any other amazon page, I'll be logged in with my name listed there at the top, i.e., "Hello GregComeLately. We have recommendations for you...".
But as soon as I go to the contest page, it lists me as a guest, so I attempt to sign in again, specifically for the contest, but nothing. I still remain in "guest" status: "Sign in to get personalized recommendations. New customer? Start here..".
If I click over to another non-contest amazon page from there, I'm back to being logged in again. ridiculous.
So, was anyone able to get the Tivo for $149? It said I wasn't "randomly" selected.
Not me. I haven't been offered anything since the first one, with the PS3 (which as a second place prize wasn't that great a deal - like $30 off or something).
That certainly sounds strange. Have you tried it from either another computer or a different browser? Maybe go through the configuration options and ensure that everything's at least at default and that nowhere is any amazon.com site listed in any way that might prevent cookies from being stored, etc.
At that point I'd probably write to Amazon to try to figure out what's going on.
You weren't randomly selected to be offered this deal.
Apparently I'm not random enough to be selected either.
So, is the Tivo good for $149?
I would jump on the deal, but I have DirecTV. I don't know how good it plays with my direcTV receiver.
Its about $75 below the best price I have seen anywhere.
But the TiVoHD only works with cable, fios or over the air; it cannot be used with DirectTV.
I finally get an offer from Amazon, it's something I cannot use.
Maybe I can still buy it as a gift for a friend who has cable.
I just got the deal and bought if for a friend since I don't really need a 2nd unit at this time.
So you both were offered the 149 deal? That is great! I paid 299 at BB and it was 249 at CC. I thought it was a rebate thing at CC and it wasn't and I had already bought from BB and hooked it up and everything. Then I needed the HDMI cord by today so I paid 50 for it on Friday knowing it was lots cheaper online. But I am selling my SD 80 hour series 2 Tivo for a 100 bucks so that will be good. Now I have two DT ones which is nice. I can use the one in my living room to just record a bunch of movies on to have on hand for when I am caught up on my other shows. And in the bedroom I will now record all my night time shows back there in HD. I can't wait to test it out I am waiting for my cable people to come out now with my cable cards.
I did not get that invitation to purchase but I thought it was at eighty something?
$89 if it won the voting (it didn't).
$149 as a runner up.
BB price matching.
I got BB to price match to Amazon's price a couple months back.
It is not their policy to match internet prices, but the manager was quite nice.
They also did not want me to return the TiVo to repurchase from Amazon, like I said I'd end up doing. Rose4uKY, you might try this tactic. You do have 30 days to take the BB unit back.
There's really nothing she needs to worry about; Best Buy will legitimately price match the Circuit City $299 price without requiring any special exception. Actually Circuit City currently offers a further 10% discount on the TiVoHD for in-store pickup if you order it online; they may even match that part, too.
I tried another browser (explorer), but same thing. I've given up trying to figure it out and have wasted too much time as it is. Chances are nothing positive would have come from it had I been able to participate in the voting process anyhow.
thanks again for your attempts at assistance.
You could create a new account and see if you at least then see the radio buttons. Maybe there's something about your current account that's causing the problem. I took that screen capture with a new account that I just registered with my name and email address. No credit card info required up to that point.
