TiVo XL4 with SW ver 20.5.2a-01-2-758 - Forced Update Problem

I've seen in a few places on here that 20.5.6 has been suspended due to issues with the update.

 

Yes. My xl4 got the update same time both my Roamios and 3 of my 6 minis got it from the priority update. My three minis still don't have the update.

 

My XL4 is still on 20.5.2a-01-2-758 and I'm happy about that... my Roamio is on 20.5.6.RC14-USA-6-846 which for my use is meh....

 

Count your blessings. Lots of comments here about issues with this update. I l live in fear of finding out I got it overnight. I expect my tv to stop working afterward. If tivo stopped sending it out to premieres, say 'thank you'. They seem a little cowboy in sending out fixes and improvements.

 

Yes I wish I didn't get it on my xl4. It is like 10x slower then it already was. But I like it on the roamio probably becuase it reduced my audio drop out to almost nothing and I so far have none of the issues others are reporting!!

 

My folks' regular two tuner Premiere has the update and works just fine, odd that the XL4 would have an issue. Even my Mini is good to go.

 

My roamio and 3 of the six minis got it with no issue. Just the xl4. Just made its response slower then it was by a good bit.

 

Stuck at 20.5.2. Don't know why TiVo has such a hard time getting their act together with software.

 

I have exactly the same problem. My Premier XL updated automatically over a month ago. My Tivo Premier XL4 has not. It's still at version 20.5.2a-01-2-758. I have contacted Tivo technical support multiple times about this issue. We've tried all the known/accepted ways to force an install of the new 20.5.6.RC14-01-2-748 version--multiple connections to Tivo, resets, and reboots to force a connection and SW download. Nothing will cause the new version to update on the XL4.

In all other respects the Premier XL4 functions properly. It regularly connects to the Tivo service to update its program guide and alert me of channel updates. It streams both ways with the companion Premier XL unit.

During my last call to Tivo technical support I was told an update to the current 20.5.6.RC14-01-2-748 version will be coming next Friday. About all I can do for now is wait until then to see if the XL4 will take that update.

In the meantime has anyone else experienced this issue with a Premier XL4? I'm wondering if this update issue is unique to that model for some reason. Better yet has anyone found a solution?

 

Not exactly the same, but I have a Premiere (not XL4, standard Premiere) stuck at 20.5.2a which is in a perpetual "Pending Restart" status. When it restarts, it says it's installing an update, it completes and drops to TiVo Central with no error. The next time it connects to the service, it will once again go into "Pending Restart" status. Over and over and over and over again...It's been like this for at least 2 weeks, perhaps longer.
